Was glutened here. :( I called ahead so they could put aside gf injera (100% teff) and the waitress seemed very knowledgeable about gluten intolerances/celiac and assured me it was 100% teff. However I felt awful the next day, and it was clear I must have been accidentally served the injera that is 5% wheat, 95% teff. The 100% and 95% look exactly the same, so I’m not surprised if there was a mix up in the kitchen. Other than the injera, the rest of the menu is gf.
I will give the caveat that I’m pretty sensitive to cross-contamination, so there’s a chance it was that wheat accidentally made it into the 100% teff injera while they made it, but I can’t be fully sure what happened.
— Not at all
— No gluten-free information on the menu
— Some
— Good
I’m posting to warn Coeliacs - I’ve eaten here once prior and ordered carefully, and was told that if I call ahead that they can make safe injera. So I called today and a woman said that they could make it “safe” so that it was only 5% wheat/95% Teff. Sad sigh. I do not trust their personal definition of safe for coeliacs and would not recommend dining here. I am not Coeliac but gluten sensitive and will not eat here.
