I had a really bad experience at Ba’al. I went in while the place was empty and explained my allergy to the man behind the counter, who seemed super annoyed with me. When I asked him what toppings for the rice bowls were gluten free, he insisted that everything was GF. I was skeptical of this so I chose a plant-based one to be safe. He asked if I wanted tabouleh too and I said no because I was quite sure it wasn’t gluten free. He insisted that I was wrong and then put it all over my food, even though I said no?? When I stepped outside I googled it and of course, tabouleh is literally a type of wheat. I went back to the store to explain this to him and he didn’t attemp to hide his irritation about remaking the food. It’s a shame because the food was actually quite good, but I was so embarrassed and disappointed there’s no way I’m going back.
