Let's talk! AMAZING!!!!!

We ended up in this little home town place for several reasons which I normally wouldn't have chosen, but so very glad!

It was definitely top 5 (along with a sister restaurant) of the best allergy friendly (gluten free, dairy free) in the area after Hersheypark.

At Hershey Park, we waited in like for 30 min+ for great smelling, over-priced amusement park food, but moved 5-10 feet and there was an hour left until closing time so we went on to eat after.

That was the main reason for thinking BBQ, because we all had our hopes up. (But we are spoiled with favs from NC and literally lived at the "BBQ Capital of the World" in Lexington)

If it wasn't for that, and the rave reviews about being a little hard to find (not really, just parking in back had to dbl check) and SOOO worth it... I probably would've picked some mediocre/expensive chain restaurant where we choose because they "have options" but it's not IF we will get sick (food allergies) and how bad. (Fast food and sit-down places. All of them.)

Little did we know we are greeted by the owner (probably on his break or checking on the smoker/grill) but no hesitation to open the door and cordially converse. The restaurant name by the way... his beloved dog.

With a gluten allergy himself, we were immediately put at ease!

Friendly, knowledgeable, the awesome owner and servers. Jake was GREAT! I even joked because of our uncertainty (you know with options it's hard to decide!) and several different people/different allergies... and sure enough to put us at ease and get it all right, he got paper and a pen :P (I truly admire the talent to hear, remember and it all come out right, incredible!)

They took care of us wonderfully, the food was DELICIOUS!!!!! (and seriously not just mediocre... normally a chicken or steak patty with little to no seasoning most other places, but understandable with allergies).

The brisket was soooo tender and flavorful!! Absolutely a must if you go!!

I'm not huge on smoke flavor, but the ribs were beyond tender, fall off the bone wonderful!

Veggies (carrots and broccoli) did not disappoint!

The gluten free kid that CAN have dairy, was RAVING over the mashed potatoes.

First of all... I make them killer, and we've had caramelized onion mashed somewhere that we've tried to imitate but can't.

These apparently even topped those!!! 😳😳

OK, so the burgers were great!

GF/DF daughter who's picky really enjoyed it! Gluten free bun was good!

Hubby and his cousin (no allergies) got the mushroom burger and they were fabulous!!

Burgers were nice and thick in the middle, too much to eat really (especially after the mashed potatoes and our day at the park!)

The places slowly filled as time went on and you could tell this quaint pub is admired by all. I even took pics of the bathroom long before all this because the restaurant, in a historic(?) house was so nice, beautifully decorated, just neat and wonderful place all around.

To top it off:

He sources as organically and local as possible. They smoke brisket overnight. They truly put their all into the local, family owned, friendly and special atmosphere that we can't help but go on and on. I hope we can return one day, because it's a real treat!

The owner Dave (a super nice guy!) is GF and makes sure his kitchen is safe for all. The menu includes GF options and the chef will provide GF changes to menu items if requested. The food, atmosphere and service was outstanding. I was traveling and was delighted to find this restaurant!!!

The staff is very knowledgeable about gluten allergies/celiac. They can make a lot of things GF. I had a wonderful mushroom flat bread and a sandwich on GF bread. We will be back for sure next time we are in town.

My husband found Babe’s before COVID. It’s my favorite restaurant to visit when I’m in the Hershey area! The owners and staff are amazing and well versed in Gluten Free Safetly! The food is amazing! Babe’s is the best kept secret in the Hershey are!! You won’t be disappointed!!

Smoked wings were delicious. Server and phone receptionist were knowledgeable and made sure to emphasize to ask for the wings baked. Baked wings really bring out the smoke flavor. Top notch attention to GF needs. We will be back for sure!!!

Babe’s not only offers many GF options (pork flatbread, maple wings, and Brussel sprouts were wonderful) but also has quality ingredients. The meat is smoked in house, fish is fresh, everything is actually made for your order. The owner and our server were both attentive and gave great recommendations. GF or not, this restaurant is worth a visit.

Our server Kristen was also GF. Very knowledgeable about GF options and cross contamination. No separate fryer, but many options for non-fried sides. Wings are smoked. They have GF flatbread and sandwich roll options. The restaurant is clean, service was great. There is a great little kids play room with some toddler toys and a kitchenette upstairs. Cocktails were great, too!

Fantastic food and great service! The pulled pork flatbread was amazing!! Several items were GF and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about being GF.

The owner and staff are SO accommodating and SO nice, it is a must try! The owner and staff all have food allergies and are very understanding and will make something that is completely allergy free and will 110% work with you. Hidden gem but so amazing!!! 10 stars.
