My waiter indicated everything was gf except some items on the kids menu and deserts. They didn’t seem to care that I was gf maybe because they didn’t feel it was necessary but I would have felt more comfortable if they had discussed their protocols in the kitchen.

They are careful about keeping fryers separate and can accommodate many different allergies.

Wow! Bartaco West Hartford is beyond fabulous! Everyone was incredibly kind and knowledgeable about the importance of a gluten free meal with no cross contamination. The food was incredible and there are tons of options for celiacs. The chef, Sandy, actually came out and introduced himself and took such good care of us - Bartaco is lucky to have him! Truly, I’ve never been to a restaurant where I’ve felt so well taken care of. The entire meal was an absolute delight - I can’t wait to return!

Really good! Tacos are 2-3 bites, quite small, but tasty. Great menu. Staff knowledgeable. Pork belly taco…still thinking about it.

Last time I was here was in 2018 and I got sick. My friends and I came here last night and I originally wasn’t going to eat anything but the waiter said basically everything was GF except the quesadillas. Not sure if they changed things since the last time I was here because I think I remember not being able to eat the chips back then but I took the chance and ordered a taco, rice bowl, street corn and guacamole and was completely fine. Only thing is none of the desserts are GF so that would have been nice to have an option but everything else was great. Also, the music was very loud but, it was a Saturday night. It was cool to have a late night bite with friends.

Been here a few times and never gotten sick! I always make sure they know it’s an allergy and not a preference and they do a great job making sure there is no cross contamination.

No separate fryer for chips or falafel and definitely write Celiac on your order card cus they get super busy. Otherwise it’s a great spot to get some tacos
Yes
This is a go to for me. I agree with another poster though, I don’t feel safe when it is super busy. But I feel that way almost anywhere. AND last year they had a dessert on their menu marked GF BUT it came with a topping that had gluten in it!! So glad I asked to be sure. I do feel like if I make sure to inform my server, write “celiac” on my card and don’t go when it’s too busy it’s fine.
Unlike most Bartaco franchises, this one doesn’t have a dedicated GF fryer. Their fried plantains are my favorite item on the menu, so that was disappointing. However, most of the non-fried menu items are GF and delicious. I had tacos and asian slaw, all really good.
Great food, very careful ate here a bunch of times over the past two months without getting sick. Great atmosphere too
Great gluten free options! Tacos are great.
This place is heaven on earth! Everything I have ever had is amazing. I’ve had their pork belly and shrimp tacos, both to die for. The rotisserie chicken is so moist and juicy and their guacamole is some of the best I have ever had. The best part is almost everything on the menu is gluten free!
I have celiac disease and used to be able to eat here with no problems. Ate here recently and got very sick. I had the same tacos I usually order. I won't be back.

It doesn't get any better. Almost everything is gluten free and staff is very knowledgeable.
Almost everything on the menu is gluten free. In fact they mark the few items that are not with a star. The mangers take care of every order that is for anyone who is celiac or sensitive. I'm a celiac and have not felt this safe for a long time.

I’ve never gotten sick here! The manager always comes out—speaks with me and makes sure proper accommodations are made. Plus IT IS SO SO GOOD.
Great ambience and fun decor. Crispy Taco and spicy! Lots of gf options and Gelato for dessert.
Yes
Most items on the menu are gluten free including the fried fish although that item is all breeding and minimal fish so I don't recommend it for taste.

I have eaten here several times! Food is very good. The problem is if you have celiac or an allergy it's just not a safe choice. I have been here several times the first few times I went I had no complaints. The last two times I went I got so sick that unfortunately I can not trust that this restaurant is gluten free. Again very good but not a safe choice!
Yes
I got glutened twice! Months apart. I was sick before I even left the restaurant.
I was very clear with the server that I needed everything to be gluten free and even wrote it on the Order form and they server informed me almost everything on their menu is anyways but they would be sure to make sure everything on our tray was gluten free. Guess not! :(. Fellow Celiac peeps beware! I am never going back.

I had eaten here twice without being glutened(celiac), both times the restaurant was rather dead. Tonight it was very VERY busy, and I was definitely glutened as I am writing this sick. Maybe okay for all adopting the GF diet, but not always a sure bet for us celiacs, so be careful. If its packed, I highly doubt the kitchen will have the time and cleanliness that those of us with autoimmune diseases need. As such I am changing my celiac safe status. If a place can not accommodate a celiac every time they are dinning out, they are not safe- period.
Happy celiac- did not get sick eating here! Food was yummy, but tapas, so very small portions for a very big price, which is one of the contributing factors in the 4 star rating. Also, the waitstaff situation is confusing, our party of four had a hard time deciding who our server actually was ( we counted about 5 different people helping us during our visit), and because of this our drink orders kept getting messed up or completely forgotten. Still though, no ill effects after eating here which is huge.

Just went there yesterday and it was awesome! All of the things on the menu were GF except for like 3 and you could fill out your own card with your order on it. The food comes speedy fast, and it is delicious! Anyone who has celiac, I feel really safe here!
This places is great they really understand celiac and have gluten full version of the food and only two things on the menu have gluten
