Berlu for dinner — An ambitious 12 -course tasting menu, absolutely delicious. Reminiscent of L’Atelier Robuchon anywhere and Eden Hill in Seattle, PNW version. Very refined and light, everything was perfect and gorgeous to look at. 100% gluten-free and dairy-free because the chef is. My favorite restaurant in Portland.

*Snacks/appetizers* Rice cracker with sesame Pandan waffle with shrimp Cucumber with camomile tea & lime juice drink Glutinous rice dumpling Hazelnut filled with fish roe Curried pork belly In glutinous rice dumpling

*Mains* Clam in a light roasted coconut water & lemon ‘soda’ Crabmeat, sour cherries & kumquat & lichee sauce, coconut cream Sable with flowers, snap peas with puréed fava beans and durian Muscovy duck, with garlic scape and shishito peppers and incredible sauce

*Dessert* Banana leaf sticky rice pudding topped with frozen lemon curd with fog Chewy tapioca bread. Coconut cream with caviar

It took us a while to find because there are two restaurants at 605 SE Belmont St. Hat Yai is on Belmont. Berlu is on 6th Ave at the tail end of Hat Yai (in a courtyard area). We found it when we walked north on sixth Avenue and then, when we didn’t find it, turned around and walked south on 6th Ave back toward Belmont. And there it was!
