Lots of restaurants will have GF options, but it is often because the meal just doesn't contain gluten. You may get nachos, but did the restaurant fry the chips in the same fryolator that they put breaded items in? I was delighted to find that not only does Bistro 19 have a TON of GF options, they actually have dedicated fryolator and equipment to remove the possibility of cross-contamination. Whenever possible, they substitute ingredients across the board, from spices and flavorings to the type of alcohol something is braised in. Anyone who can't eat gluten knows you can find or make delicious GF food. Not too many people who can eat gluten bother to find out. Bistro 19 has practically an entire menu of items that we all can enjoy, including incredible desserts like cheesecake, mousse, and (my favorite) crème brûlée. For items such as sandwiches, they have fresh-baked locally made GF bread. Onion soup or soup du jour? Yes! Fish, chicken, and steak? They're all safe! I have tried multiple things on the menu, from soups & salads, appetizers (the 'jumbo' shrimp is actually colossal - think Volkswagen-sized shrimp), and the Fish en Papillote and Grilled Cauliflower Steak. My taste buds and my tummy have never been happier! I've heard several people comment that they have never eaten food this good anywhere else. I have to agree. If you can't eat gluten and want to treat yourself, I strongly recommend you try it out!
