Being gluten intolerant limits me to eating like a celiac. I have eaten several times at Blackbirds Gastropub and what gets me is they put wheat in their mashed potatoes, and make their gravy with flour. They add wheat to their shepherd pie. This particular dish can be made without adding flour to it and it taste the same with the same texture. There are lots of items on that menu that have added flour that could be substituted with a different ingredient that would change the whole face of the menu. But I guess they don't want the expense of a separate but equal kitchen.
My son is celiac. He found the GF menu to be pretty good. He has visited a number of times over the past few years and not had any problems. We enjoyed appetizer orders of chips and queso as well as chicken nachos. His chicken entree with side order of Brussel Sprouts was good. The server was attentive to his needs. For beverages they offered a GF beer or two plus Angry Orchard. He did comment on the sandwiches no bread option. Perhaps they could have a loaf of GF bread available since it seems like the sandwich ingredients are GF.
Yes
It's a nice place to get a drink, but don't dare go there if you're actually hungry. There are very few menu items that could actually be considered a meal. It feels kind of like a joke when you read a menu that says "Rueben- order without the bread, sub. Fries." If you ask me, a pile of kraut and corned beef isn't a meal, particularly considering what you'll be charged for it- it's a lot. I have celiac disease, and I'm hungry, not stupid.
Drinks are great, but their gluten free menu is pretty limited.
