I have a mild tolerance for cross contamination (never *yet* had an issue with a shared fryer, but many issues at various pizza places with “gf” options). I say this because I can’t speak for everyone, but Blue Sushi & Sake warns that they can’t guarantee a lack of cross contamination. For my tolerance, I did not have any issues, and hopefully that gives a little context in this review.

Onto the food itself. They have an entire gluten-sensitive menu. This menus had multiple starters, and raw rolls (not just a 3-item menu for those who are gf). The alcoholic drinks are also noted when gluten free (though they don’t list any gf beer options at this time).

The sushi was delicious. The waitress warned both manager and cook staff, and every plate that they brought out, they said it accommodated my gluten allergy. They were also able to change the sauce used in the gringo roll from the main menu, to a gluten free variation (using a non-spicy sauce).

After I let the waitress know about my allergy, she brought out a gluten-free soy sauce in its own bottle (first time I’ve seen that at a restaurant).

The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars on safety is because I’d only give 5 stars to a dedicated gluten-free facility where there is no risk.

Overall, very highly recommended sushi restaurant.
