We were staying near Fashion Place Mall for our anniversary, and we knew we liked Tucano’s as a Brazilian restaurant, so we gave this Brazilian option a try. It was very good, but I think I’d drive the extra 20 minutes to go to Tucano’s downtown. Of course they bring meat around to your tables on skewers, and they have a salad bar (I’ll include photos). They have a sink to wash your hands before going in. When I said I had an allergy to gluten, they went to find out what I couldn’t have. They said for the meats, most were good except for things with teriyaki, bbq sauce, or the Brazilian wings. And on the salad bar, they said to avoid croutons, noodles, and fried foods. They do have gluten free Brazilian cheese bread, but the ones on the salad bar they said have a risk of cross contamination, but she said she could make me some separately in the back if I’d like. Overall the food was quite good but generally under salted, and there was no salt shaker on the table. Also, at Tucano’s they label the menu and salad bar signs with GF, but there weren’t labels here. Also they had several chafing dishes with two items inside, and several had something gluten free next to a non-gf food (like rice next to noodles in the same chafing dish). I avoided those. And there were a lot of fried things, so I couldn’t have those. They did have some delicious Brazilian limeades—we got piña colada and strawberry, both of which were very good. I didn’t get sick and the food was good, but I think if I were in the mood for Brazilian, I’d stick with Tucano’s for a little better safety and quality.
