Very happy to see a gluten free menu here. It's limited and you have to ask for it but it made it easy for me to eat out with my family. (The menu states that they are not certified gluten free and do not recommend for celiac a.)
My daughter ate the pasta off the gluten free menu and within a half hour she said her stomach hurt. She said it was definitely from gluten.
be afraid! be very afraid!
Their GF pasta is good and doesn't make me sick, however I had the worst experience of having my waitress bring out my salad and pasta in gluten form. I would've been sick as a dog if my GF buddy hadn't of stopped me. Their noodles have to be a certain shape to be gluten free. She then asked if I was just "on one of those new diets" and if I could "just eat it anyways". I'm 5'9 and 130 pounds, no I don't need to diet. I need better costumer service! We had her bring the manager. I still go there now, but I'm always more cautious.
We got off to a poor start when, after I asked for their gf menu, the waitress returned without it and asked us if we were ready to order. The menu does caution that this is not a dedicated gf kitchen. That said, there were I believe three salads, three pasta dishes, two chicken dishes, a salmon dish, and creme brûlée on the gf menu. I chose a pasta, which for gf was quite good.
After a terrible attempt at The Cheesecake Factory across the street (even their salads aren't GF! And the staff was clueless), I walked into Brio with tears streaming down my face, figuring that an Italian restaurant would be the very last place I'd be able to find something to eat. Boy was I wrong! Not only did they have a dedicated GF menu, the manager quickly recognized my hunger-induced panic and did an amazing job at helping me choose something to eat and personally ensured that it would be prepared GF. My experience here made my whole day. I would highly recommend.
Small but great gluten free menu!! Love pasta that I haven't made!!
Sure, they offer a GF menu... But our waiter brought out both the salad and pasta dishes in gluten form. When I told her for the fifth time I could not eat it, she proceeded to ask if it was an allergy or "just a diet tad". Their GF food was good (when I finally got it), but if I didn't have a friend with me who was familiar with their dishes I would've had an allergic attack. Won't go again for their careless service.
So glad to find Brio in Bham! This place is even better than the Houston location -- if you can imagine that. The hostess reassured me that they serve gluten-free meals all the time and take the same precautions as their other locations to avoid cross contamination. The waiter did offer bread, so I took 1 star off for that , but the kitchen handled the meal perfectly. I had the GF pasta pomodoro and my fellow GF dining companion had the GF pasta brio.
The chef was very understanding and came out without my asking him to. He brought out the ingredients list for the pasta to make sure I had no allergies to it. They let me make my own dish and were careful to double check that every last thing was definitely gluten free. I felt very safe and had a great meal!
It's just okay! Very limited choices! Special when you have multiples food limitation.
Horrible experience! My father and I went here for lunch. There were only about 10 customers in the restaurant total and it took almost 15 minutes for a waiter to take our drink order. The food we finally received was barely warm and completely bland. I have celiac and tried their "Gluten Free" pasta and immediately got sick. I will NEVER eat there again!
Simple GF menu- 3 salad options, 3 pasta options, 3 grilled entrées (steak, chicken and salmon). Cross contamination issues are evident and are disclosed on the menu. Waitress stated the crème brûlée was GF but went to double check. When she came back she did say it the crème brûlée was stored next to chocolate cake (and she did not recommend ordering it for that purpose). The restaurant is upfront and honest about CC. This is why they got 2 stars still not great.I had a horrible reaction to the "GF" Brio pasta. The worst part was it didn't even taste that great to begin with. Mediocre at best. I would not recommend this to Celiacs, it maybe OK for people who are not super sensitive and or gluten intolerant.
Nice GF menu. We had a great lunch experience here. The Pasta Pomodoro with grilled chicken was tender and tasty. My GF dining companion enjoyed the Pasta Brio. I think the pasta is Tinkyada. Waiter reassured me that the kitchen cleans the work space and utensils when preparing GF meals, minimzing the risk of cross contamination. I will definitely be back
I would have given this restaurant 5 stars, but the last time I was there, they had changed GF pastas, and for the first time, I didn't like it. They have other great non-pasta GF options. You can read my full review here: http://www.gfinorlando.com/2013/10/brio-tuscan-grille-winter-park.html
Good gluten free options
Limited but delicious gluten free menu! Picked up dinner to go a few times without any issues! Staff is very knowledgeable and pleasant.
Got GF penne Brio. Found a piece of pasta in my dish that was not gluten free. That means they cross contaminated. Not good! Called Manager and he apologized and asked to bring me something else. I had to refuse. Sorry, can't trust them now.
Delightful ambiance accommodating
DO NOT eat here if you have celiac disease! The fact that there is a GF menu is misleading. Staff knows nothing about GF, what it means, how to order it or prepare it, and also do nothing to help with the process. I was given attitude because of my special needs ( despite going at a slow time: 4pm), offering to speak with the chef or to educate these people. The worst dining out experience I've ever had.
They DO have a gluten FRIENDLY menu which includes GF pasta. It is a beautiful restaurant ant the staff was wonderful but for the price I was not impressed at all with the meal.
