I went there for a friend's birthday and they brought me wonderful GF dishes. I would high recommend this place and did not get ill.
Limited gluten-free menu, but they do have large portions of some items.
Unimpressed. It's a family style restaurant and the teensy gluten free menu is just dishes taken from the main menu and just not 'dusted with flour'. They made sure my dishes were gluten free but overall the service was uncomfortable and I asked for a small and they gave me a lunch portion. Which was way over priced. I won't be returning. Neither of us were satisfied.
I spoke with a chef before ordering and he was able to provide some recommendations. There were several options, but this restaurant does not advertise gluten free. I have Celiac's, and I did not get sick after the meal. Really good food, I would go back again.
Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about my needs as a celiac. This was the first entree out in a restaurant I had as a newly diagnosed celiac, a sensitive one at this point too. The food was clean & clear. We went when they weren't too busy in the kitchen, which was probably good too as it is a shared kitchen of course. They understood the idea of cross-contamination though. Sure the menu is limited but what GF menu is not? It worked and I got to eat out with the family. I had the GF chicken 'piccata' with garlicky green beans. It was very delicious; I actually think I ended up with the best dish of our party!
This is a FUN restaurant. They do have a gluten-free menu, but the selections are limited and do not include any pasta selections, whereas most high end Italian restaurants now do. Their basic large family style of serving sizes make it difficult to meet the needs one individual in a group. Plus the server did not confirm that entree requested to be prepared gluten-free had been, which is always reassuring.
They do have a gluten free menu and the food was very good. I got limon chicken with capers. Very delicious. But i was led to believe they had gluten free pasta and they did not. My 2 year old son and myself are both gluten free and he didn't understand why he couldn't have some of his older sisters spaghetti. He ended up eating nothing and had an apple at our hotel afterwards. I would give it 5 stars for wonderful taste. But I can't. This is a pasta restaraunt and they don't have pasta for me. The waitress said they are supposed to start serving it soon. Hopefully I can go back again and have a better experience. If you are happy with no pasta this will be a wonderful place to go.
The waitress was great and was very concerned about how I was feeling before and after I had my meal. They have about 5/6 gluten free options. 3 of which are in a lemon caper sauce that I can't have as I'm allergic to lemons as well. I opted for the veal marsala. Was thinking since it is an Italian place that there'd be gluten free pasta with my meal but no, just the veal and Marsala sauce which I found to be too sweet. At least when I go to auntie Pastos I can get a whole rib eye in sauce on top of gluten free pasta. That's a full meal. For the price it's not worth it. Leaving with a headache.
It is costly and limited option wise. But there is something to be said for a place that takes measures to ensure safety for celiacs. Being able to eat out safely makes them five star deserving! And they have delicious pasta now!!!
I was extremely disappointed in options and quality. I had heard that the place is delicious, but it really wasn't anything special. There are pretty limited gf offerings. On top, my boyfriend and I got the meal that serves 3-4 and found it lacking, especially for the price.
I ate here while at my husband's company holiday party. The chicken Marsalis I got was very good and had a sweet sauce. And our waiters were very helpful. However there are no gluten free pasta or pizza options at all. When I go out to eat Italian food, I go for pasta or pizza.
This review is for the Mira Mesa location…unfortunately so poor I'd never risk dining at another location. The service, selection and awareness of gluten free needs were the worst I've ever seen. Management has failed to train their staff and the chefs simply can't be bothered. It boils down to sheer laziness and an uncaring attitude. How difficult is it to stock a GF pasta? Even Vons carries it. Telling a celiac to just eat bruschetta topping alone by picking off the toasted bread that touched the entire serving was just plain idiotic. It's like in a Mexican place giving someone a spoon and a bowl of salsa and saying," Have at it."…yuck. I didn't feel welcome and will never return.
I have eaten here a few times off their gf menu and have never had any ill effects. Great food but believe it or not they don't have gf pasta on their menu - plenty of other things to choose from, though! (And maybe they have added gf pasta to their menu, I haven't been in over a year)!
hope you don't like carbs The waiter was quick to bring out a gluten free menu when I asked. However, the gluten free menu is extremely limited and does not contain virtually any carbohydrates at all... you better be OK with just a hunk of meat. None of their traditional Italian stuff can be done gf. One other thing: the gf menu doesn't list prices! The food was just OK: I had the salmon and it tasted good but was tough.
Limited menu. They dont have gluten free pasta. Only a couple dishes of chicken. Would not recommend at all.
This is so bad. We have eaten here since they first came to Albuq. I found out less than a year ago I had Celiac disease and have been so disappointed with Bucca's Gluten Free Menu (NONE) THEIR ITALIAN ........where's the Gluten Free food? You competion is out doing You
Terrible! After ordering chicken marsala from the gluten-free menu and being assured it was gluten-free when delivered, my daughter spent hours vomiting....obviously they poisoned her with gluten. Careless and I have yet to hear back from the manager!! DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!
I LOVED Beppo's food and atmosphere pre- gluten sensitivity. But as a GF customer, I was told they didn't have a GF menu. (Hint to restaurants: I don't want my GF status to be an "issue" which I need to discuss with the waiter. Why not just put a little "NG" or something next to the menu item?)
