All I get here is gf cheesecake with special instructions to use a clean knife etc. Recently I did a phone order for curbside pickup. The cake tasted better than usual and within 2 hours I was violently ill for the rest of the night (a friends birthday). When I spoke to a manager about it possibly being a regular cheesecake or having been cut with shared tools (it usually takes a lot to make me that sick) he was extremely rude and denied any responsibility on their part. I asked very nicely I want to add- I wasn’t trying to make it a big problem. He then told me there was nothing he could do for me (in terms of a refund or something) unless I was able to “return” the slice of cake ?????? In the same breath he told me “our cake didn’t make you sick, please come back again”. It was literally the only thing I had eaten. There’s no doubt in my mind. I get that these things happen in shared bakeries but his attitude and denial was really offputting to me. In the end I just asked that he pass it on to the staff as a reminder to take extra care with allergy orders over the phone. To which he responded “we already do that”. I have been a lifelong customer here since before my diagnosis but I doubt I will ever risk it again after being treated with such disdain. I would recommend avoiding it. Don’t offer a gf cake if you can’t handle serving it to people.
