They don’t have the gluten free sacher. But instead they offered me a different type of cake that tasted amazing.

Cafe Sacher's famous Sacher Torte kept popping up on lists of top things to experience in Vienna, so I wanted my family to be able to eat there. When I asked the hostess and server about gluten free, they both immediately responded with "no gluten free Sacher Torte, only Esterhazy slice." That was fine with me. We arrived around 10:30 am, and most people seemed to be getting Sacher Torte and a coffee. We also had brunch; I chose & enjoyed smoked salmon with hash browns and lime creme fraiche, and of course, the Esterhazy cake. The 28 page menu is in German and English, and automatically has allergen codes listed for each item. I don't know how much care is taken to avoid cross-contamination. I'm glad we made this part of our trip.

I was confused by the conflicting reviews here so checked the menu: Esterhazy slice is clearly marked on the menu as containing gluten (code A) - see screen grab so doesn’t seem to be gf after all.
