The service is amazing. They explained how their gluten free pizzas are covered and cooked in a separate space. The margarita pizza was delicious. It was effortless, quick and easy. This was a Las Vegas location near the strip in the "Town Square" shopping center. This is an update 8 days later. I am very sick from the pizza. Take into account that I am a very sensitive Celiac. I forgot how awful it feels to have a major glutening.
Excellent job at GF pizzas! The crust is very tasty too! CPK was trained by GIG and we've dined here with several celiacs and everyone has had a positive experience!!
California Pizza Kitchen was trained by GIG and rolled out their GF menu October 2013. They have 4 pizzas - all excellent and salads. The GF crust tastes more delicious to me than their regular crust. My celiac family members have dined here several times successfully. CPK understood what needed to be done and the food was delicious!!! Well done!
There was a specific gluten free pizza menu with 4 pizzas. I had the mushroom, pepperoni, sausage pizza and it was really satisfying. I noticed the Waldorf salad was GF, along with a few side plates (appetizers). I wish more of the salads were gluten free, otherwise it would be a 5 star. The chain is GIG certified and it appears that the facility was up to speed on how to avoid cross contamination.
California Pizza Kitchen had a Gluten free pizza a couple of years ago and didn't do it right. They pulled the pizza and went to GiG to do it right the second time. I feel like they really care and worked hard to be safe. The staff was knowledgeable and very careful with my sons food. The pizza is cooked in a rimmed pan so it doesn't touch any other pizza. They also only use rice flour to roll out all their pizzas so no risk of wheat flour in the air. They also use color coded utensils so no chance of using a gluten contaminated pizza cutter. And the pizza tasted wonderful! My son wants to go every day!
Mirage location does NOT have the GF pizzas.
Staff is well educated on gluten free. The pizza was excellent!
GIG trained? I cannot believe that.
They definitely take the gluten free procedures seriously. The gluten free crust arrives prepackaged, and the pizzas are cooked in a separate oven. The utensils for preparing gluten free meals have blue handles and the rest have black to avoid CC. I have eaten there twice now and no reaction. Thumbs up!
I ordered Gluten Free pizza in October but I received a pizza that had gluten. I didn't even know it until I ordered another one. When addressing it I was told that I was the one who made a mistake. Issue is even when I was picking up the pizza I was asked about "free bread" and I asked if that was gluten free like the pizza I was picking up. They need additional training for sure.
My husband and I were excited to go here tonight after seeing that they now offer gluten free pizza and are certified. The gluten free menu consists of pizza only, although their regular menu shows that they have a couple of gluten free salads. When my husband ordered a gluten free pizza they told him that the manager oversees all orders by those with gluten allergies, which we were happy to hear. About five minutes later, the server came back to notify us that they had looked in all the freezers, and were out of gluten free crusts. That left my husband with no options at all, considering the only thing on the gluten free menu is pizza! So we had to cancel my order as well and leave. I'm really disappointed.
Fantastic service and hubby LOVED the gluten-free pizza. Tasted GREAT! We will definitely return as often as possible!!!
This place was so much better than I expected!! I thought "Another pizza chain in NYC trying to get on the gluten free train", but I was wrong! Their gluten free pizza was so good that even my boyfriend liked it! They are very careful not to contaminate any of their gluten free ingredients which is wonderful for those of us who are very intolerant. The last time I got a Domino's gluten free pizza, it made me really sick - I have a feeling they made it on the same flour they had made the regular pizzas on. But not this place! SOOO GOOOD!!!
Gf menu was decent. Ordered the Margarita pizza. Very sick, I won't be returning.
Thanks CPK for getting serious about GF. Pizza was delicious!
The pizza was amazing!!! They have 5 special gluten-free pizzas and some items on their regular menu with GF so it's easy to determine what you can eat! The staff was great and informed and so was the manager. Great gluten-free service! Would totally recommend coming to this location... I'll definitely be going back!
pizza was delicious but after ordering in another state I cannot confirm what I received was actually gluten free. They assured me that they are trying new gluten free doughs after they told me on first phone call all restaurants nationwide served the same.
They burnt it and its flat type pizza. Not very good.
Limited menu items, only salads, no pizza, or dessert, but their salads are good, especially the Waldorf Chicken Salad
Great GF pizza and salad options. I was excited to eat at an old favorite!
Gluten free pizza menu. Manager Carlos took special precautions in watching preparation of pizza. When he noticed chef moving bread in the oven over my pizza he had them make a new pizza. They prepare gluten free pizza in a special area away from regular pizza. Very pleased.
There are a few salads, kids fruit, and a kids Sunday, that are labeled GF. The salad that I ordered (Waldorf Salad) includes chicken and walnuts, so it is filling. At one time the chicken tortilla soup was labeled GF if you didn't include the tortillas chips (perhaps a shared fryer was a problem). Chicken tortilla soup is no longer labeled as GF. Currently CPK does not sell a GF crust. Food was good.
Visited while interviewing in Bham. Excellent!!! Manager spent 20 minutes discussing places to live and all the GF options in Bham. She eats GF as well, and assured me food would be prepared without contamination, and it was! On top of it all, she said her restaurant will be moving to using rice flour exclusively!!! She even insisted that my lunch was on the house after my talk with her. Now that's hospitality at its finest. Will be back when I relocate!!
There is one fish option not actually designated gluten free on the menu. There is a chicken dish also not designated gluten free. Then 5 salads and that's it. All of the salads haw other common allergens in them though, so you have to do a lot of modification to eat here. Truly don't understand how this made the list
Since CPK has pizza in their name you would think they would have a gluten free crust if they were going to be on this list. Salad is fine but really want to go to California PIZZA kitchen for PIZZA.
Disappointing. GF options include salads only & I was not satisfied with the Italian Mix - leaving hungry.
Several gf choices mostly salads but really interesting mixes
Got rid of GF menu which is a shame, because my kids loved the GF pizza crust. Still enjoy the chopped salad and Waldorf salad
I've been a fan of their delicious GF salads for many years. BE SURE TO TELL THEM YOU NEED GLUTEN FREE. I got lazy after so many years of no problems here and assumed that since the roasted veggie salad doesn't have any gluten containing ingredients that I didn't need to say anything. But either they changed their recipe or I got cross contaminated and learned my lesson! Still worth it for the delicious soup, salads and wine. As well as the large group pleasing (for normal digesting people) pizzas.
update from my review below: went in this week and the menu had changed limiting the gf selection to just salads, moving my 5 stars to 2.... Delicious gluten free options. I had the sweet corn guacamole to start and the salmon with stir fry veggies as my entrees. Both were awesome! I also had the pecan Carmel sundae for dessert. It was huge but I couldn't stop eating it. A definate choice for GF diners.
Although they no longer serve gf pizza, I went to lunch today with friends because they offer gf salads on the menu. I have been sick all afternoon. My Cobb salad was delicious but unfortunately the ingredients may have been cross contaminated. I probably won't return.
I didn't get sick from their stuff (as their note above suggests contamination issues) but it tasted horrible! I hope if they do start to serve it again that they consider just buying crusts from still riding or udi's because the one I got from them was really, really, awful.
They didn't have gluten free pizza which is too bad. But I had the caramelized peach salad and it was amazing. I would definitely go back again for this salad alone.
This is only a good option if you want to eat a salad while everyone around you enjoys pizza and pasta. Gluten free items are clearly marked but are few.
My meal was delicious! Couldn't tell it was GF had a cheesy pasta dish. Down side is the bread they bring out that we don't get to eat. But if you're lucky you'll get Alicia! She's great and deserves big tippers and nice guests!
No GF Pizza. I was very disappointed. And left. Went to pizza Fusion instead! And loved it.
The GF pizza crust is too sweet and was disappointing.
Food is good. Servers are knowlegable. I've never had an issue eating here.
No gluten free menu or pizza. 12-27-12
Very disappointed that the only GF offerings were salads. Also, on the back of the menu it states that they cannot be certain that their items are not cross contaminated with gluten products.
Not much for gluten free but they worked with me. I am also vegan. I called ahead and brought my own rice tortilla for the pizza crust and my own vegan cheese. It was very good. It fell apart. They didn't charge me. ;D
Their salads are incredible!!! No pizza but the salad was so good I didn't even care
Barely any gluten free options, only salads. No gluten free pizza, very confusing. But they sing happy birthday. No gluten free desserts either. No nacho or taco options are gluten free either.
Their menu is not helpful for paleo dining. I asked what made an item gluten-laden and they could not answer. So I had salad and a piece of chicken.
I know it says there is no gluten free pizza dough so all they have that's gluten free is salads. Almost every restaurant has gluten free salads. So what's so special about CPK's gluten free menu?
Great! An awesome place to eat.
All they offer are gf salads. It was good.
I have been diagnosed with Celiacs Disease, so choosing to eat gluten-free isn't a trend for me but rather a medical necessity in order to avoid the negative effects on my intestine and consequent miserable symptoms associated with ingesting gluten. I had visited this restaurant as I was staying in the area for a work-related conference. I had thought this would be a great place as I was made aware of their gluten-free menu. I ordered two items off the menu (both of which were labelled 'gluten-free' and made the server aware of the importance of the items being gluten-free due to my celiacs disease. After eating both so-called 'gluten-free' items at the restaurant.... I immediately started to feel very ill as all my symptoms started to return. This was completely disappointing... Despite the meal I ordered being labeled 'gluten-free', it clearly was not (or had cross-contamination) and I ended up suffering for the next couple of days as a result. I will obviously not return to this restaurant, and will also caution others who require a gluten-free diet to stay away from this place as well.
Service is excellent and lots of tasty GF options !! Definitely try the White Corn Guacamole!
i had a great gluten free salad, but was disappointed i couldnt get a gluten free pizza.
No stars! They no longer offer GF pizza
They have a new GF item: Quinoa Arugula Salad. It is delicious! I am shocked that CPK doesn't yet have GF pizza or a more extensive GF menu. The new salad is substantial with sun-dried tomatoes and feta cheese. I devoured it with glee. Quinoa and arugula in one dish has to be a winner!
BBQ Salad and White Chips and Guac are amazing. Can't wait for the safer GF pizza to come out tho
don't go here unless you want a salad. I was very disappointed to find out they didn't offer a crust that was gluten free. they need to change that!
this location doesn't serve the gluten free pizza dough. big disappointment. there are still some other GF labeled items, though.
Hostess said had GF pizza, waitress said nothing is GF. Didn't eat cause no one knew. Son ordered regular cheese pizza and they brought pepperoni. Terrible all around!!!
We found out the hard way no more GF pizza, and their GF menu seemed to have been removed completely. I talked to a manager, the reason was because of cross contamination possibilities in the kitchen. They couldn't guarantee foods to be 100% safe. Not clear if it was this location only? But at the time we went (about 6 months ago), the company website still boasted a GF menu. Sad, but better to have a happy tummy.
FYI GF pizza's no longer available which their menu did not reflect..so we found out once we were there. The only choice is salad which are good but I find tiresome as this is often our choice and i was looking forward to pizza after all. So if you are fine smelling pizza while you can have none and eat a better than average salad..this will be a great meal.
Their kitchen is not celiacs safe :(
They have taken the GF pizza off the menu.
Menu is marked with gf entrees but know that you can't get the pizza here... Good food in general though!
The only gluten-free items on the menu are salads. On a positive note, they pulled the gluten-free pizzas because they realized they were not training the staff sufficiently.
great servers who understand gfree options....it only got a 4 star b/c the kitchen doesn't have a gfree space!
They have GF pasta but cooks it in the water that they cook the regular pasta in. Doesn't that make it pretty useless. Very difficult to done with Gf kids. They don't want a salad.
The GF salad was delicious, but they have cross contamination issues like nothing i've ever sign. I have nut allergies as well, so ordered without croutons and pecans, and was told after I ate it all that "the cook forgot" about these requests, but not to worry, he picked them all out before it was served. If I was told this before I wouldn't have eaten the whole salad! Was in pain later. I complained to the manager and at least raised the issue and didn't pay for it.
While they stopped serving pizza they do still have other options available. Click on the menu link below and it lists them.
The one in san antonio stoped selling gf pizzas.
GF option extremely limited (lettuce, water). Removing GF crust from menu was a big mistake. Go to BJs instead!
They have gluten free items listed right on menu. The salads are always great!
Not good at all. Also, I believe they stopped serving gluten free pizza crust
No longer selling gluten free! :(
Gf options are listed right on the menu. Good selection and very helpful staff...just be sure to tell them you have an allergy.
Tasty and a full GF menu.
Good, but employees are not educated
Had a GF pizza. Very good. And so many toppings to choose.
Gluten free options on regular menu. Great salads.
Please avoid if you have Celiac disease. There are numerous cross contamination issues.
Expensive and servers are uninformed about gf diet. Took me almost 30 minutes and many questions until I was positive the food I was ordering was safe. Server had to go back many times and came back with answers that didn't match my questions.
No longer offering GF crust! :(
They no longer carry the gf dough
not knowledgeable staff and only had a few selections. they were out of pizza crust but that didn't matter for us celiacs because they cook everything together. i would not recommend
They have discontinued their gluten free menu
No longer carries gluten free crust due to difficulty in preparing. I was informed that they were going to work on getting a new crust. They do have other options, just not pizza.
Call ahead to see if the gf pizza is back. They took it off for a few weeks to fiddle with the recipe and don't have any at the moment. Otherwise they serve salads and a small number of other dishes. The server was awesome about it and double-checked. He really was sorry and seemed to care.
no safe gluten free cooked options. all is on the same grill and servers are not that knowledgeable.
This was not a gluten free pizza! Unfortunatly, I have to pay the price when its not! This is rediculous!!! I thought CPK would get it right but they did not!
GF on the regular menu. Always a nice thing. Knowledgable staff. Pizza's good, but not awesome. Plenty of other options, too.
Very good pizza! This is pizza you can savior bite by bite. Service was excellent and it was a pleasure to speak with the manger!
gf pizza on menu, but has corn.
New GF pizza is very good... Bang bang shrimp is great.
This location does not have the full menu and is inside airport security.
Decent GF pizza crust, but cheese slides right off. Regular size only, so dining with a child who has Celiac is expensive unless you share. Great selection of toppings, especially veggies. Love the salads.
