Review of Campano's Cucina

Prices don't match the experience. The owner has a lot of friends in town, so you'll find that the townies often glow about this place, but if there were *anything* else in the way of an upscale Italian spot, it would likely put this place out of business in a matter of weeks.

Their GF options, while available, range from mediocre to downright embarrassing. The recipes are both uninspired and the execution is generally lacking. They do understand and respect the need to avoid cross contamination and such, but doing anything beyond making the blah GF recipes they offer takes them way out of their depth quite quickly.

From a non-GF perspective, the same is true. They struggle with even the smallest and easiest of tasks like not drying out chicken, making a good red sauce, and properly draining dishes to keep the sauce from becoming a runny mess.

While their cocktails are probably the most interesting you'll find in town, they're grossly overpriced for what they are.

We've been 3 to 5 times over the past couple years, and they have not improved. This place is "Fredonia fancy" and if it were located in Erie or Buffalo, it would already be out of business. I'd strongly suggest taking a short drive to find a better option such as Brazil's On Main, or The Barq Grill, or better yet just head to Hamburg.

In town, I'd choose almost anything over Campanos if given the choice.
