Review of Canard

Review

Canard on Burnside is delicious but has limited gluten free options. There is NO dedicated fryer so any fried items are off limits for celiacs. There is a separate menu that marks which items can be made gluten free or are naturally gluten free, but it's not entirely accurate and, because the open kitchen is pretty tight and everything is prepared in the same space, there is a higher likelihood of cross contamination.

As an example of one of Canard's limitations, I was interested in the Caviar Queso Dip that they offer. It was marked as having a gluten free option, but when I asked the server about it, he said there wasn't anything to substitute for the bread - it would just be a queso dip on its own. Needless to say, I decided to pass. :)
