I do not know why this is so highly rated. The frier is NOT GF. Yes, most of the menu is GF, however, the cheese sticks ARE NOT GF and go into the same frier. Therefore, I do not recommend this for celiacs and only for gluten sensitive people.

Update: As you can see, the owner has clarified below. The person working the truck that day possibly did not understand the question when I asked about friers. As I have gotten sick here before though, I suspect it was general cross contamination that can happen most anywhere. As such, upgraded my review and is likely a safe spot but still possible for cross contamination. I’ll likely try again when I’m back in Germantown

Owner Response

Hi, not sure where you got that information from about the fryer. We have a small electric fryer just for the Tequenos (Cheese Sticks) and a big propane fryer dedicated just for the empanadas trying that way to avoid cross contamination.

I’m obsessed with this food truck. I eat here almost every weekend! They only have the food truck at the farmers market on the weekends or else I’d probably eat there more. Almost the everything is gluten free. I get their chicken bowl and all three sauces. So delicious!

Chicken, Arepas and beef and cheese empanada were awesome. They both tasted wonderful. The Arepas were very messy, but totally worth it, and both are gluten free. They have some nice outdoor seating at the farmers market right next to this food truck.

This space is still here. Every third weekend, they are in the kitchen in food court. Other days, they are in a food truck outside, near the produce side of the farmers market. The arepas are a bit greasier than others I’ve had, but they’re delicious and celiac safe.

I was worried about gluten free options at the Bicentennial mall. Even though it was only 1 pm on a busy Mother's Day weekend half the vendors were closed. This was one of the few open and I was so excited when I noticed gluten free near the top of the sign. I asked and they said the cook top was dedicated but that the plantains were cooked on a different area that also prepared wheat products so I opted to leave those off since I am sensative to cross contamination. I ordered the chicken arepas. It was delicious. I am anxious eating out anywhere because no matter how safe I think I order so still get sick. I was honestly shocked that I never felt bad at all after this meal. I ate both of the available sauces as well with no problem! I am NOT celiac but I am very intolerant. I can not wait to eat here again!
