Us - “One of us has Celiac, what can she safely eat?”
Server - (I swear I’m not making this up!) “Well, she could start with these two toast dishes they are very good.”
Us - “Do you understand that Celiac means she can’t eat anything with wheat?”
Server - “Ummmmm…” - randomly points to a fried cheese dish…
Us - “Is this fried in a shared fryer?”
Server - “No, the cheese is fried by itself.”
Us - “Does anything with wheat get fried in the fryer…ever?”
Server - Blank Stare
Me - “Can we talk to a chef or anyone from the kitchen to discuss food preparation and gluten avoidance?”
Server - “No. I’m very versed in gluten free options and food sensitivities.”
Us - “Thank you. We’ll take the check please.”
