Chipotle

Notes
Gluten Intolerance/Celiac Disease
"Most people wanting to avoid gluten can eat anything we serve except for our large and small flour tortillas.
Everything else is fine to eat for most people wanting to avoid gluten, including our crispy corn tacos and our corn chips.
However, you should know that it's possible our corn may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field.
If you are highly sensitive and would like us to change our gloves, we would be happy to do that at your request. Additionally, because our folks work with wheat tortillas all day long, there may be the possibility of cross-contact in our restaurants. We encourage you to carefully consider your dining choices."

Most of the time I go in there the staff are clueless about preventing cross contamination. They ask me if I want a tortilla after telling them I'm gluten free and they get snippy if I ask them to change their gloves after I see them out their hands down on a troika. I've tried to give them the benefit of the doubt by I've had reaction the past three times I've eaten there and will never eat there again.

Always a safe place to eat gluten free. Food is very good and a great variety. My only complaint is that some of the servers are not aware that they should change their gloves and finish my meal down the line. Also, some use the same cheese and lettuce that has been touched with hands that have touched the flour tortillas. Other than that, I really enjoy eating at Chipotle.

Tell the servers you need to be gluten free and they remove their gloves, remove used serving pieces and replace with new and change gloves and clean the area around the food containers. The manager told me the chips could be cross contaminated but I tried them and didn't have any problems. I visit this Chipotle's once a week and have never had a problem.

Chipotle sure does a great job...as soon as I mentioned I have celiac, the young woman tossed her gloves away, walked to wash station and washed hands (even forearms) and put on clean gloves. Made my meal start-to-finish, as is their practice. Crispy tacos made with my choices...used clean plastic to add my guac. We've eaten here a number of times and decided to add a review because food is always good, staff very friendly and knowledgeable.

All ingredients are gluten free (except for flour tortilla of course) but even with changing gloves and making meal all the way through, which workers are willing to do, there are still small chances of cross contamination no matter how careful cuz previous worker who made burritos before you even get there uses the same ingredients. So for super sensitive celiacs, not recommended.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I went to Chipotle at Northgate last night, because I saw Chipotle listed on a "top 5 for allergens" list. Chipotle is NOT SAFE for CELIAC. Maybe it is for gluten free, but not for someone with celiac. While they offer options that do not involve a flour (gluten) tortilla, I watched as every serving spoon (beans, rice, etc.) touched the flour tortillas that went down the assembly line. They of course also touch the bowls. There are about 6 people that prepare your food, and there is no way you could be sure (and highly unlikely that it would happen) that each change their gloves before touching your GF food. Also, there is no way to prevent cross contamination on the counter assembly line that they use. A huge bummer, indeed as the food looks so fresh and tasty.

Chipotle is amazing however I would skip going to this one. I placed an online order to go, two soft corn tacos. They made them wrong and I had to wait for them to remake them. Once I got home I realized they made them with flour taco shells so sadly all I had was chops for dinner 😔 This chipotle more often than not messes up orders.

This location (and almost all of the dozen+ we've been to) follow the allergen protocol Chipotle has to a T! The only thing that has to be avoided is the flour tortilla! To avoid the lunch rush (and give them time to prep) we use the phone app to order ahead. I've worked with the managers enough to trust that they are taking the same precautions whether we are watching or walk in to just pick up and then eat there or at home.

I am a celiac and always ask them to change their gloves. I find the staff to be super helpful, but the managers sometimes yell at the employees for walking me down the whole line to make my food, which is why they get 4 stars. Otherwise, I find I can eat here easily. I do have a reaction to the salad dressing, which is supposed to be gluten free, so I advise you consider avoiding the dressing if you're super sensitive.

I've never had a problem eating at chipotle before, but I went to this one and they didn't seem to know about their gluten-free procedure at all. Even the manager was called over and didn't seem to know what to do besides change gloves. They wouldn't pull out the spoons for me and I had to stand there and wait for them to figure out what I was talking about while they moved people through the line over me. It was an awkward and disappointing experience when I've usually had a lot of success with Chipotle.
