Chipotle

Notes
Gluten Intolerance/Celiac Disease
"Most people wanting to avoid gluten can eat anything we serve except for our large and small flour tortillas.
Everything else is fine to eat for most people wanting to avoid gluten, including our crispy corn tacos and our corn chips.
However, you should know that it's possible our corn may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field.
If you are highly sensitive and would like us to change our gloves, we would be happy to do that at your request. Additionally, because our folks work with wheat tortillas all day long, there may be the possibility of cross-contact in our restaurants. We encourage you to carefully consider your dining choices."

I research everything on their website and ordered on line. Everything tested fantastic. I got the three chicken corn hard shell tacos, white rice, salsa, black beans, lettuce and a side of guacamole. Only thing I would suggest is if your getting it to go be prepared for soggy taco shell. The tomatoes salsa soaks it to death. Other than that like I said I had no reaction and it was fantastic.

This particular store employs or has employed persons with celiac disease or some degree of gluten sensitivity. They are exceptionally sensitive to the individual's needs. For me, they have always carefully washed hands, changed gloves & followed me through the food line. Fresh, uncontainable pans of certain items are always used for me. Highly recommended! I'm extremely sensitive & never has any problems after eating here.

Literally the worst for people with gluten allergies/celilacs. I asked for the corn tortillas (since everything else is gluten free, except the flour ones) and they refused constantly to use them, change gloves, or even attempt to make an allergy free environment. Ended up just getting a bowl of rice and beans as I was tired of debating them.

Sometimes the staff isn't up to date on allergy producers, but since they make it right in front of you it's easy to walk them through it. I always ask for a fresh sour cream container as well as cheese and lettuce, because the contaminated cheese falls in the sour cream.

I really like chipotle and for the most part my experience is pretty good. However, I always run into difficulty with this particular store when asking them to change their gloves due to my allergy to gluten and wheat. One server was very rude and refuse to change her gloves even after I explained. So I asked for the manager and she made my meal for me without apology. Another time there was a really nice gentle man who made my food for me separate from the other food which I thought was very nice of him. Overall I would not recommend this store because it's too much of a hassle getting the staff to understand your needs.

Offers gluten free options, however, the customer service at this location is horrendous. Staff is uneducated about both the menu and allergies. Asking the employee to please change gloves due to an allergy seemed insulting to her. Totally refused to open a fresh package of cheese to avoid using the contaminated cheese at the prep station. I would not suggest this location to anyone even if they do not have allergies, which is a shame because I have had exceptional experiences at other Chipotle locations.

Chipotles are usually top notch for gf people but this one went way above for me. Typically they wipe the counters and change gloves. Joshua heard my gf request and in addition to that changed all the spoons and then made sure that I got the salsas, lettuce and cheese from new containers rather than the ones that they were already serving from. Super kudos to them and him for doing this! Highly recommend!

Had food from this Chipotle the last 2 Sundays and been glutened both times. First week I thought it might have been the cheese, but had the same symptoms today after no cheese. Though the workers change their gloves - and are quite pleasant about it - and walk my food through the line, there is still something. I never had the problem at the Chipotle by my old house. Wondering if dipping lettuce by gloved hand might be doing it. Not overly enthusiastic about trying again next week.

I get the salad bowl with chicken, beans, brown rice, salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Their sweet tea is awesome too! I have had good experiences at a different Chipotle restaurant, with regard to their gluten free protocol. At the other restaurant, the employee who was making my food would wash their hands and change gloves, then take charge of my food the whole way across the food line. Tonight, when I asked if the burrito bowl was gluten free, the employee, who had been handling a flour tortilla, placed his hand in the salad bowls on the top of the stack. He then walked over to another employee and asked if they were GF. She said that yes, they are; that it's only the flour tortillas that have gluten. I mentioned that he had his hands in the salad bowls, so she walked off and got a fresh one. He changed his gloves then, and worked on my food. My husband also eats GF, but is not as sensitive as I am to gluten, and told me that between my GF food and his own food, the employee had been handling flour tortillas. Meanwhile, the first employee had passed my food off to the next employee down the line, instead of walking it all the way through. That employee was handling flour tortillas, and looked about to put his hands in my salad bowl. The employee who had gotten me the fresh salad bowl saw that, and intercepted my food and put on fresh gloves and finished it for me. As I said before, I have had much better experiences at other Chipotle locations. The employees at this location did not seem to understand their protocol for handling food to keep it gluten free, and seemed unconcerned about the issue. Fortunately there was one helpful employee who was attentive enough to keep my food safe. Watch them carefully if you eat here.

As soon as I told the girl I had Celica disease she immediately changed her gloves asked what I would like and made mine all the way down the line so there would be no cross contamination. She also let the cashier know she didn't touch my food and the girl who made mine handed it right to me then went back to finish my husbands. Good job chipotle!!

I usually feel safe eating at Chipotle but the cross contamination here was out of control. I watched two workers handle tortillas and then stick fingers in bowls with the same gloves. Ladles from beans and other ingredients contacted tortillas. Walked out after waiting in line. Rethinking Chipotle as an option.

I've had good luck at other Chipotle restaurants but my experience here today was bizarre. When I asked for gluten-free the guy taking my order disappeared, then someone else appeared and asked what I wanted (again) while she pulled spoons (then she disappeared), then I ordered again and that guy grabbed a wheat tortilla, then someone else told him to change gloves. Then a new person appeared. It was apparent they were making the effort but having to order 4 different times was chaotic and confusing. When I said, "you're the fourth person who's taken my order," the guy responded, "we've all been trained." Awesome... Except after all that drama, my food was definitely contaminated. I was violently ill within minutes (and hours later, still sick.) I've had good luck at other Chipotles. I had a bad feeling when the service was so weird. Not sure why it was so crazy at this one today.
