Waitress was happy to ask chef if the item I wanted (the stuffed shrimp) was gluten free and assured me that it was - in the moment I was just excited and didn’t even think to ask about it being fried with other items. I felt a little off the next day but didn’t think much about it, but I happened to have bloodwork done a few days later for a check in with my GI doctor and my markers for celiac were high. Went to the Tuscaloosa Chuck’s location a few weeks later and was told the same item was definitely not safe for me due to cross contamination, so I got the grilled fish of the day with vegetables instead. Would try this Birmingham location again, but would advise others to definitely be careful and ask questions, because I’m not confident at all that the staff understands cross contamination.
