I ordered a gluten free cake for my sister’s birthday. The cake was delicious and was a hit even with our non-gluten free family. We felt fine after eating the cake. In the store they have gluten and gluten-free pastries all in the same display case, that doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence. I would order a cake again, but not sure I would get anything from the case.

Was iffy because of the vegan thing, but these were delicious. I was randomly craving a donut (and I didn't much like donuts before going GF), and found this place on here. Decided to give them a try. I got a vanilla donut, husband got a maple donut, and we're sharing a small pumpkin chocolate chip bread loaf. Husband says the donuts are a little too cakey for his preference, but I really liked mine. Pumpkin loaf was amazing. I can't wait to try the cookies and cupcakes and whatever else they have. I worry about the shared bakery space, but we didn't get sick at all.

I went here today to get some cinnamon rolls among some other things. I asked for 4 rolls gluten free since I have celiac. They ended up giving me 3 gluten free rolls packaged with 1 vegan, but not gluten free, cinnamon roll. I’m really glad I noticed before I ate it but this would have given me a bad reaction. I’m disappointed to say the least. I usually love coming here but this made me nervous to go back.

City Cakes has gotten me sick every time I’ve eaten there and I have tried many times. They are at the very least inconsistent about their cross contamination practices. I am a pretty sensitive Celiac, I would caution anyone with decent sensitivity from eating there.

They have the best gluten-free cookies. My wife also likes their scones which are vegan but not gluten-free.

Got sick 5 mins after eating here.
No
I used to be able to eat here with no problem. Yesterday I started feeling sick almost immediately. It had been over a year since I had eaten here and unfortunately I didn't think to check this app and the newer reviews to see if something has changed. Obviously it now has gluten in it. I haven't been this sick in a very long time.

I get sick every time I eat a city cakes cake. Not sure what’s in it, but as with other reviews, it’s gotta be gluten of some sort! (Also, I think a previous poster is confusing City Cakes with Sweet Cakes Which closed their Salt Lake location a few months ago and only has a Kaysville location at the moment. THAT place is totally worth it! Best cinnamon rolls and totally safe. Can’t wait til they reopen a location further south.. )

Ever time I've gotten items from here I get sick. Can't tell what ingredient it may be, as I've emailed them asking what their ingredients were after getting sick. Never heard back.
Within thirty minutes of eating, I was very obviously glutened.
No
Always had great experiences here, but sometimes the pastries didn't have much flavor as I had hoped. Unfortunately this location is officially closing today, so you would have to visit their location in Kaysville if you'd like to get their treats.
Yes
Not celiac safe. They change their gloves when handling gf items and the employees are knowledgeable about cross contamination, but contamination is inevitable when the gf items are stored in the same case as the non-gf ones.
No
No problems with gluten but the pastries aren’t very good at all. Donuts and cupcakes are very disappointing.
Love to visit this bakery when I’m visiting the area! Yummy treats!
Yes
I love the gluten free choices!! They also have lunches and bread that are gluten free as well. Yummy treats that don’t taste like cardboard!!
They do have gf items, but they are stored in same cases as non gf items. For celiacs it is not safe, cross contamination is possible. My daughter was sick the following day after eating one of their items.

it was so delicious they had so many different choices it was amazing and I recommend it to has any type of gluten free allergie
Yes
Not gluten free. If you have celiac disease I would avoid at all costs. There are two other way better bakeries that are dedicated gluten free.
No
They have gluten free options but are not a gluten free bakery solely so keep that in mind and ask them about specifics! Most GF cupcakes are labeled GF but all are vegan so they're made without dairy and eggs. Best treats everrrrr!
Yes
Got a gluten free lemon poppy seed muffin that was delicious!

I wish I could edit my previous review. I got gf cupcakes and got sick from them. After that happened, I tested one of the remaining cupcakes with my Nima and it showed that gluten was detected. This is the first time I've gotten sick from this bakery.

Have been a few times with Cinnamon Roll , I did okay with it. This last time tried the Grilled Cheese sandwich and again. All went well.

A friend stopped by and picked up some goodies for new years eve party just Gf...
all 3 of us have been sick since, what a way to start 2016... no more... we will be going to SWEET CAKES downtown for now on....

Their carrot cake, double chocolate chip cookies and parfaits are delicious. Only reason I did not give this place five stars is because it is not dedicated gluten-free. Love that it is vegan so I can go there with my family who have that going on.
Got a few cupcakes and a piece of vegan GF cheesecake (my nursing wife can't have dairy right now: big win). Everything was fantastic and reasonably priced.
Yes
Donuts and cookies moist and flavorful. Favorite cookie is double chocolate chip. According to employees, all items are vegan.

Somebody wrote they wished the bakery served eggs...it's a vegan bakery. Go to a Village Inn if you want eggs. As for the baked goods, they are the best you'll find in town. I suggest the cheesecake or peanut butter bars. Also, they make donuts and cupcakes, and a dang good cup of coffee. Ask what is gluten free and they will tell you all the blue labels are safe. They are seriously careful about the gluten free thing. The owner has celiac disease. They made my wedding cake and gave me a free cake for my one year anniversary. But stay away if you HAVE to have eggs for breakfast. Seriously people.

Came for a cafe breakfast. Was hoping for a little more actual breakfast options. Baked goods and waffle with no protein to balance the carb load. Wish I could have had eggs or something to go with it. Cafe seating area very unquaint. Think gas station seating area decor.
I got my wedding cake here and it was wonderful. No one even knew that is was GF and vegan! I've been back many times since then and the treats have been wonderful.

Great place to get a gluten free sheet cake for birthdays... Yummy!!!
Yes
Much cheaper than sweet cake bake shop but more problems with contamination so up to you
No
This isn't a dedicated gluten free bakery so if you're sensitive to cross contamination do not eat here. I was very sick last week from eating here. Good food but not safe for most celiacs.
Amazing staff, delicious food. The bakery is entirely vegan and about half gluten free.
