I've never had a problem at the Colonial Cafe in Algonquin and have eaten there a dozen times. They have GF pancakes and waffles and other options, which I haven't tried. the service us friendly and quick and an enjoyable experience.

However, this is the only colonial cafe I will eat at. I've been to the Crystal lake location, which is not clean, slow, and the food is disappointing.

Had a good sandwich, the Tuscan turkey club, on UDi sandwich bread. Menu is labeled well and I didn't get sick!

Horrible!! Had to give one star in order to rate otherwise they'd get none. Do not go here. First the waitress went to get me the GF menu only to return saying "I didn't know but I guess the GF menu is being revised due to some errors" should of been a huge red flag!! But I ordered eggs and fruit.. Waitress asked if I wanted corn tortillas with my eggs, thought, awesome idea. Wrong. I got them and immediately was like this does not look like corn tortillas. Put my eggs in it and ate a few bites and new for a fact it was flour tortillas. I mean come on lady!! I pulled another waitress over and asked and she confirmed they were in fact flour. I was so mad I got up and walked out. My boyfriend spoke to the owner and he was more irritated then anything. Comp'd meal but belly ache. Avoid. Not worth it.

Do not eat here. Sent my food back twice. I still got sick. Both the manager and waitress were told of my allergy. I contacted the corporate office. They told me they were sorry they don't offer a gluten free menu. Surprisingly i ordered off of their gluten free menu. Apparently no one at that company has any idea what's going on. Of course they offered gift certificates. Are they joking?

Celiac friendly?

No

Restaurant lost the gluten free menu. Waitress recommended the quesadillas, I asked If they were made with corn tortillas, because, I was thinking that would taste strange. She then informed me that white flour tortillas are gluten free. She argued with me when I told her flour is gluten. Be afraid be very afraid.
