Duet Jazz

I tried to give just one star as a warning to anyone with gluten intolerance or sensitivity but this app only allow you to start with two stars. Duets is a lovely restaurant and if you don't have a problem with gluten, it is a nice place. They have a jazz club below for your entertainment, in the evenings. Yesterday, something happened to me that was embarrassing and I don't want it to happen to anyone else. Duets advertises that they have gluten-free items on their menu and they do. Actually they have quite a few. I gave my order for the pork medallion tamales. (I was there with a friend during a business lunch.) When our server took my order I explained to her that I have a severe gluten allergy and could. she please relay that to the kitchen. After about 10 minutes she returned. My friend had ordered a glass of iced tea and I was having water. When our server came back, she told us that the kitchen wanted to relay a message to me. That even though the items marked on the menu said GF, they cook, grill and bake these items on surfaces with other items that do have gluten. She said that the kitchen was also filled with dust from flour as the baker had just been there that morning. baking. When my friend asked her what she suggested we do, her answer was this. "We suggest you don't eat here." I was floored. At that point my friend looked at me and said "We're leaving... we're going somewhere else." She asked the server "I presume you're going to comp my iced tea since we won't be eating here?" The server told her no it's not my fault that your friend has a gluten allergy. And then the server told us "But I guess you can get up and leave and there is nothing I can I do about it. I will pay for your iced tea out of my paycheck." Of course we left money on the table to cover the ice tea and the tip. I wanted to let anyone else know if you have a gluten issue I would say that Duets is not the place for you.
