The scene: Eaton’s Beach restaurant.
Me to the server: yes I would like this burger on the gluten free bun. No I can’t have fries, but I’ll have the broccoli. Ok so you’re sure you wrote down the gf roll?
Server: yes I got you.
A runner comes out with my plate, smiling.
Me: and that’s the gluten free bun?
Her smile faltered, and she said “…. Yes.”
Besides the fact that there were also 2 fries on my plate, I got bad vibes. The bun looked exactly the same as my husband’s.
Called the server over, said I can’t eat it and how I don’t think it’s a gf bun. He said he entered it that way, which I believe, but agreed that the bun looked exactly the same as my husband’s and offered me something else. I chose the brownie sundae which is listed as using a gf brownie. 😂
Later, he says “I shoulda checked with the kitchen and not just written it in the system. It wasn’t a gluten free bun.”
I’ve eaten there twice before and I know I got a burger at least once. I remember it came out still in the plastic packaging and I had to basically assemble my own burger but I knew it was safe.
I guess the moral here is to trust your instincts.

Nice place on the water with a sandbar and boat rentals. They offer a gluten free menu with many choices. The fish dip was good and served with tortilla chips (seemed store bought, but fresh). Ordered the shrimp creole which was okay, came with rice and steamed broccoli. No reactions! Yea! I would try again.

After a long discussion about gluten, dairy an cross contamination with server. I ordered the salmon salad. It was delicious but with in an hour I was ill with nauseous pain and cramping. Will not go back.

Went for St Patrick's Day... corned beef, cabbage, etc. all excellent!! Gluten free friendly!!
Very knowledgeable staff and a HUGE gluten free menu. I had the pastrami, and it was amazing. Told my waitress I had Celiac and she assured me no gluten containing items would come near it, also changed gloves/utensils. I'm very sensitive and did not get sick. I will be back!
Update: They now have gluten free buns and a dedicated fryer for fries! I had a cheeseburger with French fries last night and didn't get sick. I'm a super sensitive Celiac.

Extensive gf menu with things like he made pastrami with house mustard, collard greens and cabbage, black eyed peas, fish, mashed potatoes, etc. I had the grilled chicken breast with cheese and bacon (no bun) and collard greens and cabbage. Everything was great along with the view of the lake.
