When I sat down I told the first employee that I have a gluten allergy and asked if they had any gluten free options. He stated he would let my waiter and the kitchen know.
When the waitress came to take our order I told her I have a gluten allergy and cannot have anything with flour and the kitchen would need to clean their work station and use new and clean equipment prior to preparing my food. She looked at me like I was telling her I don’t like tomatoes but if she could put extra ketchup on my burger.
I had troubles getting a straight answer about the garlic butter shrimp and she kept mentioning they had onions and mushrooms-as if I was a picky eater. Every time I responded with no, I just can’t have flour-I’m allergic to gluten.
Finally settled on just plain garlic butter shrimp. My food came to the table without any flags or indications that it was prepared differently. Within 5 minutes of eating I got a reaction. My husband and I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
