Epilogue Kitchen and Cocktails

We had amazing service at a dinner at Epilogue earlier this week. We split a GF wedge salad and a GF oatmeal cookie, and I had the GF chicken and waffle in between. So much amazing food, but the chicken and the oatmeal cookie were the stars for me. (The waffle, sauce on the entree, and the salad were lovely but I highly recommend saving room for dessert!) I will definitely be back to check out the crabbie fries and their other GF salads and entrees, especially since our server said they have a dedicated GF fryer there.

So many GF choices! I had the pork chop, husband had the Philly Cheese steak sandwich but with the GF waffle. It was the best food we’ve had in a long time. We sat overlooking the chef prep area and were amazed at the quality and variety of food. Portions were very generous!

Well, I can say I ate here safely, no reaction, and they have things clearly marked on the menu and a dedicated fryer, so in terms of safety they are good. But, the quality was NOT good. My waffle was woefully undercooked, my friend’s salad has virtually no dressing and was mostly a bowl of dry arugula, and most dishes were just mediocre. The fries I will say were delish. Also, the service was slooooow. It took 15 to 20 min to get a glass of wine or simple beer poor and the food took a very long time also. My margarita has no sugar element at all and just tasted sour, not good. The bartender moved super slow and the restaurant was clearly understaffed with two waiters and no host. Sadly, I would not go back.

A good 50% of the menu is Gluten Free and labeled as such. They have Gluten Free Fried Chicken and Waffles that are to DIE for. So good and zero cross contamination. All sandwhiches can be ordered with a house GF waffle instead of standard bread. So great to have a new GF option in Salem.

Epilogue is an amazing little restaurant. They offer many GF options and understand Celiac Disease. Not sure if they have a dedicated fryer. Highly recommend this place!
