I called ahead to inquire about GF options, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear they had a GF menu. I asked about kitchen procedures, and I was assured that I could be accommodated, just work with my server. Then when I got to the restaurant, I found a huge warning in red on top of their "gluten sensitive" menu basically absolving the business from any kind of cross contact, see the attached menu. I understand this is a liability thing, and I'm accustomed to restaurants have limited options, but it was a stark difference from how the person I talked to over the phone had explained everything. When I ordered, my server seemed very aware of what celiac was and indeed willing to work with me. She marked my ticket as an allergy ticket, and she assured me the kitchen would handle my food separately. It came out with everyone else's food, though, and I'm not confident that the server (separate from the one who took my order) knew it was a GF order. I ordered the baked potato soup, as I figured it would have the lowest chance of cross contact. I was really disappointed when I got it, as instead of potato soup, it tasted like onion soup due to the large amount of onions in it. I've ordered loaded baked potato soup many times from many places, and I've never gotten one with such a large amount of onion. Even my roommate, who loves onions, agreed it was way more than a normal amount for potato soup. All in all, if I decide to go back, I think I will be getting the meat and hoping for the best.
