Went to Fat Baby for dinner based on the reviews here, but I, along with the rest of my party, was disappointed. The server was very nice but not very well versed in what is safe. Because they don’t mark their menu, patrons have to rely on the server’s understanding of ingredients and preparation. She told me that everything on the menu except the crab Rangoon and scallion pancake could be modified to be GF, but when I dug in deeper it became clear that the majority of the menu is not GF. The dumplings, bao, and everything fried (including all tempura and crispy items) are not GF. Though I did not ask (because it wasn’t clear the server would know), I suspect that the lo mein noodles and imitation crab also have gluten.

I ordered the Chinese broccoli and the spicy tuna roll. Neither was amazing. The Chinese broccoli was very difficult to eat with chopsticks because of its size. The roll was pretty boring, and the texture of the pineapple was unappetizing. My companions tried the bao, kale salad, lo mein, curry noodles, and a variety of rolls. Of those dishes, only the curry noodles were noted as being good.

The drink situation was also a bit of a mess. About half the cocktails were unavailable (at 7pm on a Wednesday) and those were ordered were lackluster. They were also out of most of the sake menu.
