Delicious food! Got the enchiladas de mole negro oaxaqueño.
I forget what type of oil they cook with, but it’s not soybean oil.

The food is great, but I’m not sure how much of it is GF. I’ve had the chicken enchiladas, which were awesome, and I felt fine after eating them. I’ve also tried the guac, and they gave me tortillas to eat with them because the chips weren’t safe. They seemed to understand celiac, so I’d check with the waiter to make sure what you order is safe.

This place is great. Although not dedicated, they are super knowledgeable and they always confirm with the kitchen that a dish is safe before putting in the order. Have been here many times and never had any issues. And the food is really delicious! This used to be one of my favorite spots before getting diagnosed, so I was very happy to see the good reviews on here after celiacs!

Had the skillet chicken, grilled fish tacos & ceviche and felt great next day. Food is nothing special but it’s safe if you stay away from fried things. I was also told mole & enchiladas are a cross contam risk

Fonda was my first restaurant experience as a newly diagnosed Celiac, and they made me feel very comfortable. The waitress spoke very knowledgeably about cross-contamination and gave me great advice about what to order. I will be coming here again!

I, a celiac who violently barfs for two hours straight if I have a crumb of gluten, have been to Fonda over 200 times and never once had a problem. They all know me there. Though not all the food is gluten free, the only gluten is in two dishes, one that goes in the deep frier, (so I can't have anything out of that, though there isn't much friend food anyway), and one large flour tortilla. Other than that, everything is gluten free. They are very careful of cross contamination. The first few times we went we talked to the owner, who was very friendly and kind and understanding and now says hi to us whenever we go there. The food is AMAZING, and I highly recommend the quaso fundido. The flan is also amazing, BUT MAKE SURE YOU REMIND THEM NOT TO PUT THE FLOUR TORTILLA CHIP ON TOP, (though I've never had a problem with it). The space has a great ambiance and I've gone to Fonda with my family for three birthdays in a row. When we moved to California, I was DEVISTATED. The last meal I had in New York was Fonda. I LOVE this restaurant and highly recommend it.

Loved this place. Great food, easy to pick something safe for me, nice servers. Crowded and hard to navigate if it’s busy.
We did delivery from here for 12 people. The order was correct and all the food was delicious!
Roberto has taken the whole kitchen gluten free ...please double check the mole however as it is made off site.
