This location used to be part of the Steve’s Diner franchise (my favorite with ton of great gluten free options). Since they broke away from that franchise and changed some menu items I have been unable to get a clear consistent answer on gluten free items. I used to always get the homefries because the server said they are gluten free. The next time I went and ordered them the server said they are not. They said they didn’t change the recipe or ingredients. Unsure how safe it is, Steve’s Diner locations are worth the drive for safety and consistency.

Went to the Greece location. I asked about ordering a gluten free waffle and told them I have a gluten allergy. The waitress checked with the kitchen and we were told all gluten free waffles are cooked on the same waffle iron as regular waffles. I asked about a gluten free pancake instead and asked if that could be made in its own frying pan. I was told that's cooked on the grill with the regular pancakes. They offered to put a peice of foil down to cook the pancake but what's to stop a mix up flipping it with a gluten contaminated spatula? Too risky. I decided not to order. Nice that they offer gf bread options but there doesn't appear to be any training for preparing it without cross or a separate prep area. Needless to say did not eat here.

We're not celiac, so I can't verify cross contamination, but we love the abundance of GF/V options here! Few diners offer anything GF except eggs--which I also can't have, so Steves--Now the Great American Diner--is the best option we've come across--especially that's also kid friendly!

I wish this was a safer option. My daughter and I have tried the Penfield and Fairport (Fairport just closed) locations multiple times and have been glutened about 50% of the time. We now refuse to go. We loved the variety of GF pancakes they offer but they just are not Celiac friendly.

Tons of gluten friendly options including pancakes, waffles, and sandwiches. Not completely sure about cross contamination risks.
