Review of Green Gables

I believe the menu has been updated since the last posting, as it is clearly now marked with gluten free items, which comprise the majority of the menu. There is also a selection of 'gfbr': gluten-free by request, where the chefs make simple substitutions to make the dishes gluten free.

We enjoyed so many choices -- the mushroom bisque, beet salad, shrimp scampi toast, mushroom confit pot with wonderful pesto toast, shrimp pasta, pan roasted filet of beef, duck cassoulet, and bacon wrapped pork tenderloin, all gluten free and celiac safe.

Neither chef has celiac, but both apparently eat gluten free, according to our waitress, and are incredibly thoughtful and talented. The food was fantastic, the setting was absolutely stunning, and this was a fine dining experience to be enjoyed by those with celiac as much as by those without. The waitress was knowledgeable, and when she was not 100% sure, she made sure to find out.

This was a wonderful gem of a place for special occasions, and such a treasure to find in such a small community. We can't wait to go back.
