Perhaps one of the most amazing meals of my life! Dedicated gf menu, incredibly knowledgeable and kind staff and delicious food. I got the flounder with grits, and crème brûlée.

WOW! Went here on a whim and it was incredible! The gluten free menu was extensive! There were several meals I was thinking of having. The bartender said I should have the flounder and he was so right! It was delicious! The ceviche with sweet potato was also amazing! Service was great and the bartender asked me about allergies before I even got to mention having celiacs. 1000% would go here again!

Had a very tasty dinner here. Ordered peel and eat shrimp and the grouper which was well presented and flavorful. They gave me a gluten free menu which also had a dairy free menu on the other side. Next time I would ask for less butter in preparing my fish. They offered a couple of dessert options but I was too full to have one.

Gorgeous restaurant and wonderful staff! The hostess referenced my allergy when we checked in for our reservation, and the waiter also knew and explained my options first thing when we sat down. Was appreciative that they paid attention to the details from the very start. I enjoyed the grouper and was amazed by the flavor and texture of the dish. I also enjoyed some delicious crème brûlée. No reactions so recommend checking this place out for some delicious seafood!

Came here for dinner. Separate GF menu offered and staff knowledgeable. GF menu had same main options as regular but with a la carte sides. I had swordfish with mashed potatoes with a tomato purée. Great dish, good flavor. Meals were a little pricey but would recommend for a nice dinner.

What a Great Experience thanks to our waitress Kayle. I have Celiac Disease and Kayle was Very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The swordfish with rice was one of the BEST gluten-free meals I have eaten on our journey. We will Definitely eat there again next year when we return. A 10 all the way.

Great food I had shrimp and grits and the oyster stew both were delicious. For somewhere so expensive I just thought they would have a dedicated fryer or gluten free bread and they had neither. Decent amount of options and they also have a dairy free menu which you almost never find.

Food was good and staff seemed knowledgeable about gf needs.

They have a gluten free menu, and our server didn’t need much explanation about preparing my gluten free meal. Great menu knowledge!

Staff was phenomenal and everyone understood Celiac from hostess to server to bartender to kitchen staff. Service was excellent and food was absolutely incredible! Be sure to try the shrimp and grits and creme brûlée! I’m celiac and extremely sensitive and did not have any reaction at all. Hanks’s should be on everyone’s don’t miss list, Celiac or not!

Charleston is not the most gluten friendly city! Trip Advisor falsely advertises gluten free only to be sent to a place that offers salads:( Or has a staff that is so ignorant you have to walk out the door to save your self. We went to Hanks on the recommendation of a local and were so happy we did! There was no GF menu, but what we found was a well trained knowledgeable staff that knew their food and when unsure got the chef. Great service and fantastic food!
