Waiter was helpful. Good options
Great gluten free menu. Steak, ribs, chicken fries and dessert. The service is lovely and personable. Choose the outdoor patio if you have an option and enjoy a safe and delicious meal.
Went here with my family during a visit to Charlotte area looking for something different. The only menu and write ups make it sound like they have an exhaustive selection and variety menu. Upon arrival and receiving our menu they had a total of approximately 20 full meals. Another reason for selecting this location was due to its Gluten free menu. Wait staff was friendly, nice outdoor seating area. I ordered rotisserie chicken with broccoli, received half chicken breast and thigh/leg portion and another player of steamed broccoli. Decent meal but the six cheese penee pasta was not very tasty good portion but could only taste sausage and cheese no flavor at all. The gluten free meal the Texas Brisket with steak fries had a lot of excess fat very little meat to be had, steak fries where good. Unfortunately my son who has GF wheat issues was sick shortly after leaving. Not sure the Texas beef brisket is completely GF friendly. No one else had issues. Will not be going back.
Good gluten free menu, no problems with our order. Be careful at their other location at the mall, where my husband was served food with gluten in it even after ordering off the gluten free menu!
This is pretty good! I wouldn't say that the food is just out of this world amazing, but it is worth going back to! :) They have an amazing gluten free desert, and they take care of their customers. It's worth trying for sure. :) Owners family has Celiac so they are very knowledgeable!
So based on your recommendation, my husband and I tried Harper's tonight. So delighted to have a separate gluten free menu. Ordered a salad off of it after making sure all dressings were also gluten free. Received a beautiful salad loaded with gluten filled croutons. Waitress apologized like she had maybe served me cold fries or something. Manager was apathetic. We walked out and left our bill. Harper's is not serious about their gluten free support. It's all marketing. Screw them. HOLD UP! Senior executive called me today. Apologized and explained the server error. He was genuine in his commitment to supporting a gluten free menu as several members of his family deal with celiac disease. I believe his commitment to make sure the menu is appropriately supported.
Food was good. Service/knowledgeable staff was okay. Had a new waiter and it was very apparent that he had no training in handling gluten free food; had to make several requests of him and inform him that they did in fact have a gluten free menu when he told me they did not.
Kathleen, I respectfully disagree with your rating. You gave Harper's a 1 because of a pasta shell that accidentally fell on your plate that you accidentally ate. You said the management was very apologetic and sympathetic. I don't believe that is cause for a 1 rating. A 1 rating is for food that is inedible or for management that is uneducated and/or unsympathetic (like the manager at Panera Bread who told me they had "nothing on the menu [I] could eat" - when I asked if the lettuce in their salad was GF, he restated that he had nothing that was GF). In all the years I've been going to Harper's, the food has been tasty and I've never had an allergic reaction to what I was served.
Matthew V was an excellent Server at the Carolina Place location. Food was excellent (I had the pulled pork platter with western style BBQ Andy son had the salmon and southern green beans. My fries were definitely prepared separately, because they took a little longer to come out, but were or an crispy so we worth the few extra minutes.
Brisket was just ok. And my fries never got cooked all the way I asked for new fries and explained and got fries with same issue. HOWEVER the gfree chocolate yumminess they have for dessert makes up for it balancing my review to mediocre. Next time I will get salad and yummy dessert. I did not get sick after.
Lots of options.
We've eaten at two different Harpers. At one (Carolina Place mall). We were very clear that my husband has Celiac's and we both ordered off the gluten free menu.. Halfway through the meal the waitress came up and said that she forgot to submit the order as gluten free! My husband felt very sick that evening. The second time we went to Harpers near Southpark mall. We were very, very clear with the waiter and explained to him the importance of getting the order right. We had no problems.
Can have tons of goodies... GF apps and sauces and GF dessert!!! And they will make special GF fries for you.
