Review of Helberg Barbecue

Looking for tasty Texas BBQ that is gluten-free? I highly recommend Helberg's right outside of Waco!

I was thrilled to find delicious BBQ that is gluten-free! The staff was very knowledgeable about gluten sensitivities and took time to let me know what I could eat safely.

For example, they were sure to point out to avoid the beer-based orange sauce at the table, but let me know the other sauces were fine. I was impressed that they told me what was safe to order AND thought to mention the optional condiments that I might use after I ordered.

If you're curious, they have sliced and chopped brisket. While they do NOT have gluten-free buns, they told me I was welcome to bring in my own GF buns. I highly recommend the sliced lean brisket. It was the most flavorful and tender I have ever tasted.

Plus, this is pure Texas at its best - warm and friendly environment, delicious food, and kind people enjoying meals together. There is often a line to the door, but they move things along quickly. Totally worth the wait!
