Henry’s Hunan Restaurant

I came here based on the excellent reviews on the Church St. location. I learned later that all the locations are independently owned and operated.

Unfortunately I had a hard time communicating with the waitstaff at first. The first person I spoke to started talking about MSG when I mentioned gluten. Eventually they got another waiter and once we got on the same page they said fried rice without soy sauce was the only option so I ordered a veggie fried rice. It was very tasty but I wish they could modify some of the other dishes. A lot of the stir fries list bean paste in the description and I'm guessing that contains wheat as is common for fermented Chinese ingredients.

I should have asked about cross-contamination precautions but forgot since I was a little frazzled from the ordering interaction.
