Important! They use Caputo GF flour which uses gluten removed wheat starch. I am sensitive to wheat so it did not go well for me.

Absolutely wonderful environment, very safe procedures for GF. They have an amazing gluten free Belgian waffle (it’s so fluffy!!) and gluten free pastry selections every morning. For the pastries I recommend getting there between 8 and 9 am, as they go quick!

Love love love Heritage Bakery and Cafe. They are a bakery so there will certainly be a cross contamination risk but let them know your level of risk-tolerance and they’ll be straight with you about how safe their options are. That being said, there’s usually a muffin and or a cookie that’s GF and they can use a GF toast on many of their regular menu items.

I ordered GF/DF cupcakes and they were amazing! I also love to stop in and get the gluten free blueberry muffins.

The food is not made in house. The staff was able to tell us what could be made gluten free ie switch out a croissant for gf bread. They had gluten free baked goods that were super yummy. The place has a Julia Child vibe. We loved it! Blueberry muffin was so yummy and the smoked salmon toast was full of flavor.

Their baked goods are wonderful!! I stopped in to ask about their prep process and was a bit concerned to learn that their gluten free goods go in the same case as the normal goods... so I asked if I could try a few of their things the next day and asked if they would just put them aside in a box before going in the case. They accommodated me and gave me some great baked goods to try, I will definitely go back!

Six months after being diagnosed and i find the BEST blueberry muffin ever. It was like heaven!

Everything on the menu can be made gluten free, and they always have some gf pastries. My favorite place to go in harrisonburg now after knowing how much gf options they have. Their muffins are the best😍

such a good place! the staff was so friendly and the fold was amazing. 10 out of 10 would recommend regardless of gluten allergy!

Excellent cafe. Sandwiches can be made onGF bread. Serve GF chips. Bake GF cookies and muffins. Yum yum.
