I had the French dip, but ordered without the bun. This is served with French fries so I asked if by chance the fries are cooked with other foods that would contaminate it and they are cooked separately. Also I asked about the au jus having gluten and I was informed it doesn't. I didn't have any issues with my stomach the next day. I am don't have celiac, just intolerant of gluten.

NOT CELIAC SAFE!! I have loved Hillstone for years. In fact, their French Dip was my “last meal” of choice. When I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease I knew my favorite, higher-end, stellar-service-Hillstone would be able to accommodate. Sadly, they did not.
I called ahead and was told there was no printed GF menu, but the server could assist. I let her know of my needs, she said she could “make anything work”. Didn't give me a lot of confidence.
I ordered the filet, pomme purée & broccoli. Artichokes for app. They were delish. Sure enough, was home sick all night. Frustrating, I had just spent the week traveling to San Diego and didn’t get sick once. But here at home, at (what used to be) my favorite restaurant I do.
It would be lovely if Hillstone could create a true GF menu and teach their staff about cross contamination. So long, Hillstone.

They don’t have a gluten free menu but have gluten free items and staff is knowledgeable about Celiac’s. Eaten there several times and never had an issue plus food is really good. On the pricey side so it’s our go to for special occasions.

The service was terrific and the staff went back to the kitchen three times to check items and suggest other options. However, menu items are not marked and are a bit limited. Many of the mains, including salads and dressings, aren’t safe but this restaurant’s signature artichoke appetizer was safe, and I did not get sick as a sensitive celiac from the artichoke and an altered caesar salad.

No gf menu, not even little gf symbols on the normal menu, so you exist completely at the whims of your server. My server was totally put-out about my not wanting to get the fish (I know it's shocking to people without food allergies that some of us have preferences). I was glutened here for something that supposedly the kitchen said would be safe. Also the only side I was offered (broccoli) was disgusting, the flavoring was like cheap hard candy, not anything that I have ever wanted any vegetable to taste like. They also messed up my father's (non gf) order in multiple ways.
