Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix Downtown

I am only adding the hotel to FMGF to warn others not to dine here if you have celiac or gluten intolerance. I was in a pinch and went downstairs for the hotel breakfast. I asked one employee twice about their ability to accommodate a gluten allergy, and if the sausage was GF. I watched him walk back to the kitchen to ask. I ordered eggs, sausage and fruit (no toast). When my food came out, I asked a different server once more that the sausage specifically is GF. She said yes. I took one bite then she rushed back out to say actually they aren’t positive, the kitchen was pretty sure it is GF and tried to check the box but it was already tossed out. They recommended I didn’t eat it to be sure and took it off my bill. I took the opportunity to politely but firmly educate her about the importance of training ALL staff about allergies and to be honest up front if you are not 100% sure about food allergy accommodations.

I am glad I have a leisurely day in the hotel today because now I am not confident I will not get sick.
