Been biking the Katy Trail and this is the only place in town. Full of character. Before even mentioning any allergies, Carrie the bartender/cook/and server—the only employee in the place—said that the cat fish usually is crusted with a cornmeal and flour mixture, “but if you’re allergic to wheat I can just use cornmeal.” She couldn’t say for sure if the fryer had been used to fry the regular style crusting, but she could start up the second fryer for me. It would just take a while. I didn’t want her to bother so she then offered to grill the fish with some light Cajun seasoning. No lie, it was incredible! My best meal in Missouri.
I don’t know what days she works but we were there Sunday and the kitchen closes at 6 sharp. Call ahead.
