Review of Honest Abe's Burgers & Freedom

They have great gluten-free buns to go with their burgers. Their fries are also gluten-free. However, I don’t think they take measures to avoid cross-contamination. I’m also not super confident all of the burger ingredients are gluten-free. (They May be, but I’m not sure.) A couple burgers include feta cheese or blue cheese, both of which sometimes are made with gluten. I’ve now eaten there three times. The first two times I didn’t have any issues, but tonight I’m having a bad gluten reaction. I’ll likely be up sick all night now. Their burger and fries were the only thing I ate all day that didn’t come out of a package that was certified to be gluten-free. My reaction also started not long after I ate there. I’m confident my reaction came from their food. The first time I ate there, I told the cashier I have a gluten allergy. (I know! Celiac Disease is not technically an allergy, but that gets the point across.) She was sure to notify the cook. The last two times I ate there, I again told the cashier I have a gluten allergy. The reaction was essentially, “got it. One gluten-free bun. The end.” Their food tastes good, but I won’t be back anytime soon.
