Review of Hong Kong Star Chinese Cuisine

Cant say for certain if they are safe but the person I dealt with seemed to be uneducated or confused about gf items. I have eaten here twice. Both times I ordered online choosing the gf options and picked up. The first time I ordered the sesame chicken and fried rice which came in a container together, I had no issues. The second time I ordered the Mongolian Beef and fried rice. I also ordered the side of gf soy sauce which they gave me in a rather large bowl. The problem arose because my husband who is not gf also ordered fried rice and when we picked up the order there was only one large container of fried rice not marked gf or regular. I went inside to try and explain I was missing a gf rice and the man I spoke with said they don't have gf fried rice. When I tried to mention I had ordered this in the past and it was made with the gf soy sauce he cut me off saying they did not have gf soy sauce. He then asks me what rice I want so I asked for brown rice and he rudley replied laughing saying it was common knowledge brown rice contains gluten. I told him white rice was fine and decided I would not return. Brown rice does not contain gluten. I understand perhaps he couldn't say for sure if there's was cross contaminated but the way he spoke to me saying it was common knowledge was belittling. Also I paid $4 for a bowl of gf soy sauce which he then said they didnt have so I'm not sure if they sold me regular soy sauce or he just has no idea what's going on. Since soy sauce is used in most dishes I'm not sure how they make them gf without a gluten free soy sauce.
