Love Hope & Olive!
Have visited many times and never had an issue.
For kids: My kids (celiac) always get a cheeseburger and I bring a gluten-free bun for them. The fried chicken thighs are incredible too!
Manager is knowledgeable, everything they fry just happens to be gluten-free so the fryer is safe! He even told me how many ppm the malt powder was and suggested we leave it off the cod fritters. They're speaking my language! :)
The restaurant is kind of on the classier side, we bring our two small kids, and we have always felt welcome!

I got the Pasta Fasulo and the broth/butter sauce was to die for! Their lunch menu doesn’t have as many gf options as their dinner menu but they do have gf pasta and they have a dedicated gf fryer. The interior was charming and the staff were nice.

I drive 45 minutes here at least once a month. It’s one of my favorite restaurants and I feel incredibly safe. Their gluten free caribbean fried chicken is my favorite.

I’ve eaten here a few times. Imho it’s not worth the price. I made the mistake of ordering tofu. There’s no mention that their tofu is deep fried. I cannot eat anything deep fried due to health issues. When they brought it out and I said I couldn’t eat it, they made a big deal about it and made me feel bad. Three different people talked to me. I felt like a little kid who had done something wrong. They should have put it on their menu that it’s all deep fried! I used to think Hope and Olive was alright, and now I hate them and I don’t think I will be back. They have a provincial chef who doesn’t know how to cook. If you want upscale delicious food go to Osteria Vespa in Amherst.

So many gluten free options! I had the salmon cakes with fried pickles and french fries. It was delicious! They have a separate gluten free fryer and our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. Will definitely go back when traveling nearby again.

This place is a gem. Many options for Celiacs and very knowledgeable about cross contamination. Most importantly their food is amazing and one of the best places in the region.

I have been going here for years and love it, but something is getting lost in translation when it comes to accommodating celiac. We ordered the Brussels sprouts and made sure to mention the “gluten allergy” and ask about the fryer. When the sprouts arrived, we double checked that they had come from the gf fryer and they had in fact not. The staff were very apologetic and remade the order in the gf fryer, but I came away feeling like I need to be vigilant at H&O if I want to avoid unsafe food.

Editing to say: gluten is now marked on the menu and they are consistent and careful! Yay!
We loved this restaurant before our daughter's celiac diagnosis (the food and drinks are wonderful) and now have slightly mixed feelings. Our waitress did not know a lot about gluten ingredients but, to her credit, did ask the kitchen staff a lot of questions, which we really appreciated. Our daughter ordered something that turned out not to be gluten-free after all, and they let us know. But I wish the restaurant would identify GF dishes and possibility right on the menu. To be clear, she did not get sick, but we weren't left feeling super confident.

I’ve been here three times now and every time the staff have taken my celiac diagnosis really seriously. All of their items are labeled now to indicate whether they are gluten free. On top of that, they notify kitchen staff for me that I am celiac! They mentioned they get a lot of celiac clients so it seems this is something they have experience with.

Love this place. A few dishes are GF or allergy friendly but they seem willing to accommodate. Also lots of appetizers that are GF
The food here is always amazing! Owned by the same people as Magpie, and they use lots of fresh, local ingredients. They are very knowledgable about allergies and the ingredients in each dish. They have personally walked me through my options many times (menu items are often seasonal). Service is always great, and ambience is lovely and vibrant. Call ahead to get on the list if you are going out on a weekend!
Every time I've eaten here I've been sick after. I haven't had waitstaff who knew what was gluten-free (or, sometimes, even what gluten is...).
Although they don't have a GF menu, the staff and kitchen are very knowledgable and use gf ingredients such as wheat free tamari instead of soy sauce whenever possible. Always local and fresh ingredients !
