Too High End to Accommodate Someone with a Disease

We're not from Houston. Our family lives there though, and this is why my husband wanted to spend his 50th birthday there. He has Celiac Disease and cannot have gluten at all. Because of this, we are diligent about doing research before going somewhere to eat. He also has a gluten tester called a Nima Sensor that is very accurate. We picked here because they have a gluten friendly menu. We are both aware that restaurants will never say "gluten free" mostly because it's a liability if something should happen. That being said, most of the managers have been very kind and accommodating if gluten is found, they will have their cook change gloves, and clean a small section of the grill, my hubs is happy with a chicken breast and some vegetables. Not this guy. He was bothered, short with us and dismissive. He said he couldn't guarratee anything on the menu and basically walked away, leaving my hubs with no meal and to sit there and watch everyone else eat on his 50th birthday. My husband is good natured and just sat there, hungry (ironic). By the way, my husband is also a Veteran. Worst meal ever since we find out he had Celiac. On another note, the service was terrible, the server was slow, uninformed and inattentive. Glad his family made it bearable. Just because you're a semi trendy restaurant, it doesn't give you the right to be jerks. DON'T GO HERE IF YOU HAVE A DISEASE OR FOOD ALLERGY!
