I love the gluten free bread they use for their sandwiches. However, I am gluten intolerant, not Celiac. If you’re worried about cross contamination, this probably wouldn’t be the best place for you.

They have a separate station where they prep gluten free sandwiches. But they put it through the same oven as other bread so crumbs are flying everywhere in the oven causing cross contamination. I've eaten here over 30 times and I'm a celiac and I've gotten sick half the time. But most recently I did not get sick and they offered to make the sandwich without toasting it, so I can take it home and toast myself. Since I'm a celiac I can't eat here really but I still do every now and then because they are so good. If you're not a celiac you gotta try this place. It's a 5/5 stars but since it's not fully safe for celiacs I gotta go 4.

They have gluten free bread but that's all. No accommodation appears possible in the kitchen. I've gotten sick here twice.
No
they cook the sandwiches in same oven as regular bread. directly on the rack

NOT Celiac Friendly. Cooks in same oven. Should not be listed as celiac friendly on this app.

Celiacs!! Do not go to the one in Walnut Creek. Someone else had problems there too.

I've been here a handful of times. i have gotten sick more than not. I'm a very sensitive celiac and can't have cross contamination whatsoever. they make the bread in the same oven as gluten beads. they also will bag your food in the same bag as gluten sandwiches if you had other people on your order. won't go back here anymore.
Has to be requested but they do cater to gluten free. I'm not celiac just allergic.
2 days later i am still sick but it did taste good

Omg so good. So many sandwiches to choose from, and the gf bread is a SUB, not two little tiny pieces of your typical gluten free bread. Staff is so friendly and informed me that they do share a kitchen, so cross contamination is a possibility. Sandwiches can get a bit pricey but you get a lot of food.

One of my favorite places ever! A gf sandwich on its own will cost about $10-12, but so worth it! And the staff is so incredibly friendly
the best gf sandwich I have ever had! the bread was amazing. it took a while to get our food, but totally worth the wait. I am celiac and had no reaction. will definitely go again!

Absolutely impressed! I am so excited to go back.... The GF bread was delicious and no adverse reactions! Service is also very friendly - top notch. It tasted like eating real bread for the first time in over a year! I am very grateful to have found this place.

New to Arizona went to the Mesa location. I called ahead regarding their gluten free bread, was told it was home made and delicious. It definitely didn't disappoint
Place was amazing!!!! My girlfriend is vegetarian and obviously needs to have zero gluten. Plethora of vegetarian options! I myself love me some meat and they had every possible option you could imagine! Think of subway and quisnos had a baby that was made of the best ingredients you could imagine........BOOM that would be Ike's!
I for one have missed getting to have Subway, and this place ' s Tony Soprano with the sauce makes Subway seem like a poor excuse for a sandwich place! There is a small risk of cross contamination, but I didn't get sick , and I am pretty sensitive (pure celiac disease). If you go between 3 pm and 7 pm, you get free chips (gluten free), a drink (soda; no diet choices), and a sucker for dessert! Worth a visit!

Very good food! The best gluten free bread we have ever had. Definitely a must to eat at.
GF & DF (Gluten/Dairy Free) Sandwiches! Ike's Place in Tempe offers GF/Vegeterian/Vegan options on REAL Gluten Free Hoagie Rolls (locally sourced GF bakery)! My current fave is the "Tony Soprano" (Ham, Italian Dressing, Salami, Turkey, Lettuce/Tomato/Banana Peppers/Onions, and their super-awesome "Dirty Sauce"). Be sure to order IN PERSON & stress that you have GLUTEN ALLERGY; insist that they change their gloves/prepare separately. So far, I've had their sandwiches & no reaction (knock on wood!). Thanks so much to Ike's for being the friendliest & best GF/DF hoagie shop in Mesa AZ!

I have gone to various Ike’s locations for years, and I am a sensitive Celiac. I have yet to get sick. They take extra precautions, so your food will take 15 extra minutes on top of a normal sandwich time. I recommend ordering in advance through the app or online. Also, the bread is incredibly dry, so order extra sauce on the bread. I normally order Italian dressing and ask it to be put on both sides of the bread before the toppings. It is a $3 upcharge for gluten free and then extra for the sauce, so know your sandwich will be pricey. So. Delicious. And. Worth it.

This is the best sandwich shop ever! While offering gluten free options for celiac, they also offer regular food. Staff is nice and organized. Food takes a little too long to prepare. But delicious. Definitely recommend.

Catered to my celiac properly. went and washed her hands and changed her gloves. Got the Matt Cain extra dirty with a rice crispy treat. With no reaction! Bread fell apart but that’s to be expected. Lots of options to choose from!

Just stopped by to ask about their allergy food handling. The girl working there was so sweet she wrote me a list of things that contain gluten. Well be coming back to order !
