Both of the hostesses were clueless to what GF options are possible… but thanks to the waitress I was able to order a lemon butter red snapper filet with kale salad and sweet potatoe fries. This is not even on the menu but she was able to have it prepared for me. The real shock for me was large serving size for just under $20USD at an airport restaurant. And the taste was a 7 out of 10.

I went because others had said they could eat here, but when I asked, they said they couldn’t offer anything gluten free. I was already frustrated not finding a place to eat that I didn’t have the energy to try and make something work when I started with low confidence anyway.

We sat down and left after 5 minutes. The waitress said they had no options, didn’t even try to accommodate us when they have rice, vegetables, etc. on their menu. She was also incredibly rude. Don’t waste your time.

5 stars for safety. 4 stars for taste. 1 star for the hostess not knowing they can safely accommodate someone with celiac. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and confident even though the hostess flat out said “nah we don’t do that here.” Tried it anyway based on reviews. Safe place to eat in the Miami airport. I did not get sick.
I asked the staff and verified that the fish tacos if you get them grilled are indeed gluten-free. For 15 dollars we got three fish tacos with a generous side of blue corn chips and a small cup of guacamole. I have to say this is the most fair serving of food I have seen in this airport that is gluten-free. Wait staff was super friendly. As soon as I mentioned gluten-free to them, they immediately I knew exactly what I was looking for and told me there grilled fish tacos were. Apparently they have a reputation for their fish tacos among the gluten-free crowd. The location we went to was by gate D4.
Could not find a restaurant with gluten-free food at MIA, but according to an online review, someone else had gotten a gluten free meal at Islander. So we tried the gate D48 location, even though the hostess said they did not offer gluten-free food. The server, though, was very helpful and arranged for a gluten free meal of delicious fish and vegetables! I would give it five stars if the restaurant simply trained all its staff (including the hostess) about gluten and indicated which items on the menu could be prepared gluten-free. There is an unfilled niche market for gluten-free meals at MIA; it would not take much for this restaurant to fill that niche well.
