I was nervous to come here for a family dinner after seeing the other reviews on here, but my experience was amazing! The menu isn’t marked but our server, Andrew, was so helpful in navigating what I could eat. He was already knowledgeable about gluten, but also went back to the kitchen at least 5-6 times just to double check things for me. The entrees are made from scratch so most of the entrees can be made gluten free. I enjoyed a filet mignon and some mashed potatoes!

I had a good experience. I went in July 2022 for a family special occasion. I had a burger and a salad. I can't remember if I asked for a gluten free menu, but I informed the waitress I was celiac and she checked about the salad dressing to verify it was gluten free and also made sure there was no seasoning on the burger. I didn't have any problems. My family enjoyed our evening.

Usually, a quick conversation with the server, chef or a manager produces amazing options that are safe. That is NOT the case at J. Alexander’s. “First, we have an open air kitchen so there will be cross contamination,” stated the waitress. She went on to state that they could “only do an unseasoned chicken breast or a salad without croutons.” I attempted to then discuss other possibilities, and the server then proceeded to talk about how much soy they use in their recipes. After great debate with the chef. Manager, and server (according to the server), we agreed I could have a lightly seasoned protein and a vegetable. Don’t waste your time here; there are too many other options close by.

Super disappointed in the service here for “fine-dining.”
I asked if they had a gf menu and was told “no, but you can get things like salad or chicken.”....uh what?? I should have known to speak to the manager at this point. I asked if the ahi tuna was gf and was told “I believe so,” at which I asked if she could confirm Bc I have celiac disease. Before I could finish the sentence, waitress rolled her eyes and stormed off. Came back and said it is gf and asked what side I wanted. I asked “doesn’t it come with mashed potatoes?” And she confirmed and stated that theres gluten in them. What’s in mashed potatoes that has gluten? Not sure she understood what gluten is.
Needless to say, I got bad service and “glutened” here

I had dinner there a few weeks ago. Manager came over to discuss GF options. I felt very safe with what I ordered. I had salmon, baked potato and veggies. It was very good.

My waiter, Cassey was very helpful and knowledgeable about what I could eat that was celiac friendly. I also have other food / seasonings allergies and was accommodating on that as well. The menu is a bit limited but I was able to order something with no problem. I ordered the fish of the day, Sea Bass, baked potatoes and French style greens. The only seasoning I can do is olive and salt and they cooked it as ordered .. black pepper allergy which is a concern because a lot of restaurants put that in a lot of their food. I would recommend this place. Did not disappoint.

Formerly Merus Restaurant. I’ve been here a few times and the servers are knowledgeable about which items can be made GF. I usually get the steak but last time had the salmon and it was excellent. The server suggested leaving off the sauce.

No GF menu or indicated items on menu. We called and they told us they can modify anything, no problem. The waitress acted super annoyed after going back to kitchen several times to ask about things (which I’m sure it is annoying but so is being glutened). I was told I could have a salad with no dressing/sauce or a steak with no seasoning… so I left.
