Foods always delicious and high quality but still lacking gluten free options. Waiter said there was a “GF menu now” but did not offer. Very accommodating with ordering and most entrees can be prepared gluten free. No GF bread or rolls.

Great spot in Ellington! New menu items are gluten free as well as the weekly specials! The new chef is highly sensitive to gf and is doing a great job keeping items safe.

Shame on you for not having gluten free bread or rolls, when you are in close proximity to stores such as Dee's! The steak, baked potato and green beans were good. A nice dessert of something besides ice cream would be nice.

While J. Gilberts is one of my favorite restaurants, they certainly make absolutely no effort to go out of their way to accommodate the gluten-free diner. Of course grilled meat and fish and potatoes are naturally gluten-free so you will not leave there hungry. J. Gilberts makes no effort to make the short trip to the very good gluten-free bakery in town to purchase gluten-free bread, croutons or dessert. None of the desserts are gluten-free. Ice cream doesn’t count as a dessert in a nice restaurant, in Friendly’s ice cream is a dessert. I have previously suggested that they add a flourless chocolate cake to their menu for everyone to enjoy. I have made this suggestion for the past five years. If you want gluten-free done right go to Burton’s Grill in South Windsor until J. Gilberts wakes up.

The one gluten-free diner in a group determines where the party of four, six or eight dines out. Once restaurant owners realize this economic fact instead of viewing our dietary needs as an inconvenience, they will benefit from the increased business we bring to them. The dollar size of the whole check including the bar tab needs to be taken into consideration to offset the additional cost of a few gluten-free rolls and croutons.
