Janarty's Homemade Ice Cream

This place is amazing! My husband and 6 year old daughter have celiac and we didn’t know the whole place was gluten free. The owner has celiac! She was so excited to have cookies and cream! We will be back when visiting our sister!

I’ve been to Janarty’s several times and never been sick. The ice cream is amazing, and the staff makes me feel very reassured. They even have baked goods and milkshakes! The waffle cones are GF and sooooo good!!

However, it is NOT 100% GF. The kid’s ice cream cones have gluten, which is so disappointing because those types of cones do exist without gluten. They also keep samples of the cones on a shelf right above the ice cream, which always worries me. Again though, I’ve never gotten sick from them, and I’m a sensitive celiac.

Also, the last time I went, one of their ice cream flavors had gluten (the Christmas cake flavor). They said that they’re trying to come up with a GF recipe for it, but for right now it has gluten. I decided to skip eating anything because I don’t know much about how safe their cross contamination procedures are.

I’m really, really hoping they’ll make the kids cones GF and stop serving flavors with gluten. This was one of my favorite safe spots before! It is a lovely ice-cream shop, and I’ll return for sure in the hopes that they are 100% GF in the future.

So excited to find ice cream that is GF. However the two times I was traveling through and stopped for a treat, I was sick within 2 hours. Not sure what it is that is causing this reaction. I know that they do use the small kids gluten cake cones. And I’m not sure of how that handling goes. Maybe it’s from that. I do have celiac.

Delicious gluten free waffle cones! My husband said they’re the best waffle cones he has ever had. The owner was very nice and the ice cream was delicious. We’ll definitely be back!

First off the owners are AMAZINGLY KIND! The ice cream, waffle cones and baked goods are gluten free and taste amazing! Great atmosphere in cute downtown Smyrna.

The gluten free sugar cones/ bowls are so delicious. I cannot remember the last time I had an ice cream cone that didn’t taste like cardboard. Ice cream is delicious as well. Everyone is so friendly! Highly recommend!

AMAZING!! I was excited when I read this place is 100% gluten free. The staff was so friendly from a second we walked in to the moment we left. They asked if we had been there before and then told us everything is homemade and gluten free!! The owner also has celiac disease. HIGHLY recommend if you’re looking for some place for a sweet/sugar fix. The waffle cones are to die for and the cookies and cream ice cream is on point

Oh my goodness what a blessing! Everything in the whole store is gluten free. I can’t tell you what it meant for my daughter who was diagnosed with Celiac’s disease 8 months ago to go somewhere where she can have anything in the store and not worry. She almost cried she was so happy. The whole family enjoyed and thought it was simply delicious not for gluten free but delicious. Thank you so much. Highly recommend for anyone to enjoy.

Do yourself a favor and visit this ice cream shop if you're in the area! Being able to go into a place and know that they completely understand celiac is wonderful! The ice cream was delicious and the waffle cones were out of this world! Great experience!

O. M. G. I wish I had this place by my house. The waffle cone was to die for. The entire shop is gluten free and everything I had was delicious. My entire family and friend group loved everything they got even though I’m the only one that needs gf. The cookies and cream ice cream tasted just like the real thing!!! I ended up eating the rest of my daughter’s waffle cone bowl because I couldn’t let it go to waste!

I had a wonderful experience. The ice cream was SO good (including GF cookies and cream) and they had gluten free waffle cones and waffle bowls. All baked goods were gluten free. Excited to try the chocolate chip sea salt cookies 🤤

The owner has celiac so he is very careful and the food is amazing!!! We are frequent fliers. He makes icecream that’s delicious and they sometimes have gluten free cookies. The Waffle cones are GF and the best I’ve ever had! He is very responsive to any special requests you have! We love this place!

WOW such a treat! The owner has celiac and is super helpful! Did I mention they have Gluten Free waffle cones and bowls? I also noticed they have a dessert case, but didn't ask if any of that was gluten free as well. I didn't have any reactions or issues.
