Review of Joss Café & Sushi Bar

Joss has a great reputation, so I thought I would try it. The waiter seemed knowledgeable about what I could not have, but did not offer much as far as tasty options. I ended up settling on sushi. They didn’t have gluten free soy sauce on hand which I find surprising and disappointing as a high end sushi joint in downtown Annapolis. The sushi tasted pretty bland which is fine, however, I like to dip in wasabi and soy sauce. I asked for a side of spicy mayo to hopefully add some flavor to my spicy salmon roll. The waiter thought that it contained gluten. I’m usually ok with spicy mayo, so I thought I would try it. The meal didn’t meet my expectations and had no flavor. I left feeling pretty dissatisfied. It’s the first time in a long time I felt resentful paying the check. They even charged me extra for the side of spicy mayo! I’m sure that the place would be a different experience for someone who could eat gluten. They would probably be very happy with the place. However, this is a review about accommodating gluten free customers, so I’m sorry to say try a different restaurant.
